"=0" is not a valid directing command. PLEASE HELP :(

Hey. I’m writing an episode and Episode is saying there’s a mistake in a line that says:

@CHARACTER =0

But I’ve used this command before and it worked. I don’t know whats happening :(. Can someone help me please?

I tested it and it worked for me maybe try clearing the code and try again, that sometimes works for me. You also could’ve wrote the name wrong.

I’ve cleared the code several times and it doesn’t work :(. And I also checked the name. I don’t know what to do :sob:

Can you post a little bit of your script around that line? Sometimes if there’s an issue with a background being wrong it’ll say it’s the following line causing the issue. Possibly try taking that line out and seeing if you still get an error - if you do, it’s likely a background issue.

Here is a part of the script :white_heart:

choice [shouldPaginate : YES]
“Black silhouette.” {
@MC changes hairColor into Black Silhouette
@MOM changes hairColor into Black Silhouette
@CHARACTER =0
goto fem_haircolor
} “Black dark.” {
@MC changes hairColor into Black Dark
@MOM changes hairColor into Black Dark
@CHARACTER =0
goto fem_haircolor

Is the error coming up for both of the lines where it says @CHARACTER =0? Or just one?

Both :pensive:

That is so strange!! The line is definitely correct. And you’re sure the character name is correct? On here you have @CHARACTER =0 instead of MC =0 or MOM =0, maybe the points do get assigned to a character named character in your story or you changed it to post here, but can you confirm that’s correct?

Yes, it’s correct! ‘Character’ is the name

Haha, I figured! Unfortunately that means I’m out of ideas, hopefully someone else will be able to help you!

Here it is:

The name needs to be in all caps

I changed it and it told me that my character doesn’t exist :pensive:. Should I just make another character?

Did you create a character named “CHARACTER”?

No, it was named Character. That’s why I used lowercase letters in the code

What do you mean by this?

The character needs to exist. All script names need to be in all caps when used in the script.

Oh, I see the problem now. I made a new character with the same name but all caps and it worked :sob:.
Thank you for your help! :pleading_face: :heartpulse:
