Thankfully, I havenāt been evacuated (due to California fires), my family didnāt have any financial issues, and all my family who have gotten the virus have gotten better. Since most of my family is in China and France, their current situation is now a lot better, so Iām so happy for them.
And Iām glad youāre marching on @epy.neha! Iām sure youāll show a ton of improvement. Since Iām also in high school, online school definitely has its pros and cons. Pros: Not many tests anymore, and the ones I do have are usually kind of easy. Less time commitment to clubs and band. Cons: No socializing, no marching band season, no meeting teachers, classmates, and/or new friends in person, homework seems a lot more even though I know thereās less, I donāt work very well with tech, my back hurts (āthat sounds like a you problemā - teachers), and I never feel like Iām productive enough.
And about friendships, the friendships I really cared about stayed the same, so Iām happy about that. I stopped talking to some people I liked talking to (but itās fine; I know we can talk again once weāre in schoolāwhich may be in a year or months).
As you brought up, I got introduced to many new artists and cool songs, so thatās nice. Rain On Me is also pretty cool! Itās not within the genre of music I usually listen to, so itās fun to listen to more things.
Summer let me focus on things I didnāt get as much time for during the school year, like coding and drawing. I started using art pens, and Iām totally hooked. Itās so much fun!
Iām incredibly grateful, thankful, and privileged to say that 2020 hasnāt been absolute hell for me, since I would be lying if I said it was completely all bad for me. I still hope things get better of course; I hope the fires in California and the virus are gone soon.
I canāt say this is the worstāor bestāyear for me personally. It is definitely a challenging year, and so many people have died and suffered (due to racism, financial issues, stress, mental health, online school, etc.), but I have seen some hope despite everything.
