A question about periods

I’m not necessarily the right person to be answering this considering I haven’t had a period in years, but as someone who does have a chronic menstrual condition, I’d 1000% recommend getting it checked out. Periods are a finicky thing, if you feel uncomfortable or as if you may have an issue, then it’s worth making an appointment (especially if you mentioned there’s been a change in your discharge.)

Speaking from personal experience here, I’d try to avoid taking what the internet says at face value. There’s so much misinformation and unreliable sources online, that the information can get muddied and just cause more stress/confusion in the long haul. Some sources will say yes, others say no, and sometimes they don’t give a clear answer. Every case is unique, so sometimes it’s just better to wait and hear from a professional :black_heart:

Okay. I do know that my body does have to get used to it, but I didn’t know if it was normal or something. But I never knew that exercising affected the cycle. Now it makes a little more sense. Thank you! <3

Thank you very much for sharing that. I have talked to my parents about the period thing and they may take me to the doctor. I’m not quite sure yet.

I do know not to believe every source, so that’s why I thought it was a good idea to ask Episode Forums. Everybody here has/had the same experiences and I knew I was going to get good answers. Thank you so much!

Yes, it’s normal! Before I got an IUD my periods were very normal and regular, but I have plenty of friends who would skip periods for 3 months or something and others would get 2 periods a month. A lot can influence your cycle like your routine, mood, stress, diet, etc. so I don’t think you should be worried. Unless it happens everytime or you have any other symptoms that could indicate something is wrong I think it’s perfectly normal. Periods are weird and like I said, a lot can influence them. But I do recommend going to the doctor, especially if you’ve never been to a gynecologist before as it’s good to check everything out and they’re the best source to ask!

Yeah, many people do say it’s normal, so I’m trying to not stress about it

And yes, I am going to go to the gynecologist, just to make sure. Thanks for the help!! <3

It’s normal. Periods are weird and if your second one didn’t come just after the first one ended, or you are experiencing severe bleeding or pain, you are good. I myself have a really unpredictable cycle, it’s definitely not regular and it suprises me every time. Sometimes it’s longer sometimes it’s very short. It’s what periods are here for, to be a pain in the ass :upside_down_face:. But if you are still concerned you can always go to get a professional opinion from a gynaecologist

It’s totally normal once I had twice a month I freaked out thinking of the worst possibilities but finally I asked mom she said it was normal and it happens more than just once if you are blood circulation is proper ( or something like that) but if you still concerned you can go to a gynaecologist for an opinion :relaxed:

Yes it is common, especially if you have an irregular period. And I’m gonna guess that yours is, so if it happened like this, you’re fine:

Let’s say you started April 25th and you ended it May 2. It can be normal for your period to start back over May 20th or whenever it starts. (My period never starts on the same day, so it could come at any time)

Do you know when it comes regular? I got it a week before my 13th birthday, but I’m 16 now. Don’t you think it should have a cycle, or not?

No, my mom even has an irritated period. All women are different though. I started mine at 12, I’m 15 now. I had a semi-regular period for a couple months, but after that I had started to get my irregular one. So, I’ll either start days before or days after my period last month. And that’s completely fine, I’ll be going through that my whole life or at least till I’m old😂

Thanks for that, hopefully my body will get used to it soon.:joy:

I got it when I was 13, now I am 20 and it is still pretty irregular :woman_shrugging: So I don’t think there is some rule about how much time has to pass, it all depends on your body. My doctor told me having irregular cycle is pretty common in younger women, so you have nothing to worry about.

Oh, okay. I have been misinformed then. Thank you for telling me. That makes me more comfortable.
