I’d like to point out that “locks” and dreadlocks are not synonymous. Dreads are a type of lock, but they’re not the only ones we have. I mean, even just chunks of tied up hair can be referred to as locks.

Oh. :no_mouth: Well, you’re right about that.

That’s the problem with taking the translation of the translation of bible texts and thinking they can prove whatever you want them to prove. We used “locks” as a substitute for whatever word that they used. That doesn’t automatically mean dreads are ever mentioned in the bible. And I’d love to see people challenge me on scripture because that’s my strong point :stuck_out_tongue:

True. Locks doesn’t just mean dreadlocks.

Im not saying I traveled back in time and actually saw these people… I’m simply saying that to assume that dreads were only a part of a select few cultures seems unlikely…
I m just pointing out interesting facts…

I’m not here to argue… I want to discuss, that’s all.

COLLECTIVELY ( I mentioned ONE article of MANY available I chose to use that one because it summarized collective research) … research indicates the “more than likely” then the “less than likely”

For example: Bog bodies (to me this proves without a doubt), sacrificial mummies( same, proves to me without a doubt) or preserved bodies in ice, biblical texts, ancients texts… there are many resources… we should be open minded, yes?

I do appreciate you being open minded and giving it a read… I think I’m going to end on that note and skat… Its getting a bit hostile in here…lol.

Actually, it’s quite likely indeed with some cultures! After all, our hairstyles vastly depend on things like climate, hair texture, the jobs you have etc.

It’s unlikely that Vikings had really long dreads in the way we see them today because those would be easy to grab in battle. Also, some hair textures just don’t dread as well as others and needed the invention of modern hair practices to be able to achieve that dread effect.

No one said it was only in a selected few cultures. It’s in many religions and cultures. But for you to just pick and say it’s in ones and have no significant proof is ridiculous

I’d love to see the research about bog bodies and ice-preserved bodies with dreads from the Norse and Celtic people, frankly

Also I believe the Middle East had a lot of styles like that because, They’re very close to Africa. They inspired each other :stuck_out_tongue:

Shannii’s also angry because no one mentioned that the first place we have proof of dreads existing in the world is India :stuck_out_tongue:
