Adding Choices to the Story

I’m not sure how to add choices to my story. I can’t upload a picture of my script because it’s not working right now, sorry! I’ve watched many YouTube videos and have read lot of topics on the Episode Forum, I’m not sure if maybe I don’t completely understand or just made a mistake. Can someone explain it in a more easier and clear way for me to understand? Thanks for all the help!

Here’s the format:

Character Name
What should I do?
Choice
“Choice 1”{
Here, you insert what will happen when you choose that choice. Whether it be a character entering or a character speaking. The reader will only see what happens in these curly brackets it they choose this choice. Then, you must end with another curly bracket.
}
“Choice 2”{
To add another choice, repeat the quotation mark step and next to the quotation marks, put another curly bracket ‘{‘ it must be pointing to the right which signifies open. The curly bracket pointing to the left ‘}’ signifies close or end. This means that you are done with adding the aftermath of choosing that choice.

Thank you! Now I understand this more than I did before. I appreciate you clearly explaining the brackets to me; that part was really confusing.

Hello, I need some help again. :sweat_smile: Since I can’t show an Image of my script I just typed it myself: INT. BLACK - NIGHT

@AUNT KAYSA enters from right to screen right

@LEORA enters from left to screen left

    NARRATOR (ARI NICHELLE)
Meet Leora and her Aunt Kaysa.

@LEORA is talk_greet_shy
LEORA
Hi…

@AUNT KAYSA is talk_greet_neutral
AUNT KAYSA
Hello.

    NARRATOR (ARI NICHELLE)
Okay, want to start from a flashback from Leora's memory or Her Aunt Kaysa?

choice
“LEORA”{
@LEORA is talk_explain_neutral
LEORA
Alright, I was living in a…
@transition fade out red 1.5

@transition fade out red 1.5

}
“AUNT KAYSA”{
@AUNT KAYSA is think_rubchin
AUNT KAYSA
Oh, well, when I found out that…
@transition fade out white 1.5

}

After the reader makes their choice, and the character starts telling them about their flashback, how do I get their flashback in the script? Their flashbacks are different but I don’t understand how to show them their flashbacks, and thank you again for you’re helpful advice!

You can insert each flashback into the curly brackets as well. Orr you can use labeling and the goto command. You can use these commands like so:

@LEORA enters from left to screen left

goto Leora_flashback

“AUNT KAYSA”{
@AUNT KAYSA is think_rubchin
AUNT KAYSA

@transition fade out white 1.5
goto AuntKaysa_flashback

}
label Leora_flashback
since i inserted the goto command it will automatically goto this label. After you finish with this, you can use the goto command for aunt kaysa as well.
label AuntKaysa_Flashback
This would prompt the choice to skip to this label when the choice is chosen. But, the easier way would be to add the flashback in the brackets themselves
