Yep, if they had made me wait a lot longer it would make more sense. But 3hrs is too little time wait for how much gems they are charging. I will just find something to do while I wait because you aren’t going to catch me paying for EA especially not on official stories.

I don’t feel any sorta way about it, they have a similar thing on webtoon for completed stories so im used to waiting

I actually don’t mind waiting. While personally I haven’t come across a story with this feature on episode mainly because this is the only writing platform I don’t read much on anymore, if I did, I’d wait until the next chapter is released. There are other stories in the meantime that can be read. The only downside of waiting, I find is that it can hurt the author. If a person has to wait too long, they might lose interest in the story and stop reading altogether.

What do you mean hurt the author? Do mean saying that you don’t like the early access can hurt the author’s feelings?

No I don’t mean this. I’m saying if there is a long wait period and the person was in the middle of reading the story but is frustrated by waiting, they might drop the story and move on and this can possibly hurt the author’s readership numbers/(maybe reader retention as well?). This is what I mean. So there are some people that have stopped reading stories on certain platforms just because they had to wait days to access the next chapter which led them to move on. This is a worst case scenario though, the author will have other readers so it’s fine but a little loss might occur if the waiting period is huge.

Yeah I understand you now, I wouldn’t stop reading a story if I had to wait a week beacuse of the EA on a new episode that only got released. I would stop reading story if the author is going to put EA on every new and released chapter(s) beacuse it would be really annoying.

Not to sound rude but… I don’t have a problem as long as the author updates regularly. Like I get it, not everyone has time, but imagine updating once in a month and then making your readers wait 7 days or pay you to read the chapter… that’s horrible, you will make them feel disconnected from the story
That’s why I’m only focusing on stories with +40 chapters or completed, I’m tired of the attitude of some authors

Agreed, it’s horrible and another thing authors just abuse it by adding it on all the time on new chapters. So that means every new chapter will be on early access. Just wondering what do you mean by your tired of the attitude of some authors?

I’m tired of the attitude that some authors have where they think that we owe them something because of all the effort that they put into their stories. I think we should appreciate the effort, but the readers are important too. Most of the popular authors gain money and are trending thanks to the readers, they should be thankful too, sometimes they forget about that.
But you know what, entitlement is the root of most of the problems in this community. Why does this happen? because even some readers think that the authors owe them something because they read their stories. No, no one owes anything to anyone on this equation. We should be all thankful and appreciate that people are spending their time doing something good for us (I talk about the readers and authors), but idk.

And I know that many people say “art commissions and reading on Episode is a luxury, you don’t deserve that for free”. But that’s an entitled way of thinking, people are going to look for cheaper or better options if you think that way.
I’m not saying that authors or digital artists shouldn’t gain money, but none of these people are painting the next Mona Lisa or writing the next Brave New World, their work isn’t bad but some of them think that we all owe them something just for spending some time doing something and having decent/goods results
You know how much money is to pay 8 gems for every chapter? I don’t care if we can gain gems reading featured stories, spending time is important too. This should be a way of rewarding authors that go the extra mile, not a norm for people who update once a month
As I said, I understand why some authors don’t update regularly, but they should understand us too.
Please don’t flag me for mention digital artists, I know some people like to flag for off topic but I just mentioned that briefly:)))))

Is it possible to specify 5 mins?
I mean, as awful of an idea as gem waits are, if an author set up an amazing cliffhanger, I would happily wait for 5 mins.
