I’m indifferent, but does it make me a horrible person to say the quality makes a difference?
Some art scenes are gorgeous and can really convey the emotions. But sometimes the art scenes can be a bit distracting and can take away from the scene.
Nah I feel that
depends. are they good. did the author make them themself? are there to many? are there cc. did she tell there were art scenes before or after the cc.
I really hate when I dont get told about art scene before cc. or before I pic name. I often see pick a name. okay, move on to cc btw this story has art scenes. excuse me that would have been nice to know before I picked a name.
Oh, something else that makes a difference for me- are you going to be doing the artscenes yourself?
I personally like when I know the author made the artwork as it adds a personal touch. Otherwise, I don’t care as much.
I love art scenes because they show what a character can look like in real life if drawn realistically or how they would look drawn in a different way. It also makes me enjoy the scene more. But if they are drawn badly it hurts my eyes. (Not literally)
Depends, if it drags on for too long, nah, but most of the time, it’s cool to just appreciate the art and see more about how the actual character is designed/looks!
Same for me. After a certain amount of time I just click through it or exit the story and come back later.
Some art scenes are cringey to me
Definitely.
I enjoy some art scenes! Its cool to see how the author imagined the character would look if they were a real person!
@EliseC Not horrible at all, I totally agree and was gonna say the same thing lol. And if done right, it’s the best thing ever because some author/artist combos are insanely good.
Perfect example is Mette M. Peleikis and CK Art Design Love love love their work together!
I actually really like them depending on the story and think they’re fun to have.
The only thing I don’t like is when they’re clearly traced - mostly because I’m an artist as well and can pick up when things are just… off. For example: they’ll be hyper-detailed and correct in some areas, but also proportionally off or awkward-looking in other places. And when someone is that good at the first thing through practice, they’ve already learned the basics that make up the second. Tracing is fine when you use it only in practice, but when you’re ripping people off with traced images for commissions, I’m bugged.
