Hello everyone,
About a week ago I asked how to basically put a gif into my story. Due to reading the story “College Days: Dare to Dream” one of the opening scenes is a couple dancing and actually moving. And I was shocked at how well this turned out and turned to the forums community to help me and that you did. @Epiexpert and @Trying_To_Help were the truth sleuths on this mystery. And I wanted to share with all of you how I did it.
1. Find a gif you want to use
I did this by searing on google “couple kissing drawing gif” and found one that I liked
2. Go to this website
*Like provided by @Trying_To_Help, I than hit split and uploaded my gif
3. Save split image as a zip file
At the bottom of your split images you’ll find an option to save it as a zip file
4. Turn gif into png
This process is annoyingly long but it works
5. Upload all of your pngs to the art catalog under overlays
Make sure to know which ones are which specifically number them. If you mess up with numbering them you’ll have to start all over
6. Next write it all into your script
My gif ended up with 19 different pngs that I uploaded as overlays. I’ll only be showing you 5 of them so you get the idea:
EXT. TIME SQUARE - PM
@cut to zone 2
@overlay OPENING PT 1 create
@overlay OPENING PT 1 shifts to -28 246 in zone 2
@overlay OPENING PT 1 scales to 1.540 1.540
@overlay OPENING PT 1 opacity 1 in 0
@overlay OPENING PT 2 create
@overlay OPENING PT 2 shifts to -28 246 in zone 2
@overlay OPENING PT 2 scales to 1.540 1.540
@overlay OPENING PT 2 opacity 1 in 1
@overlay OPENING PT 3 create
@overlay OPENING PT 3 shifts to -28 246 in zone 2
@overlay OPENING PT 3 scales to 1.540 1.540
@overlay OPENING PT 3 opacity 1 in 1
@overlay OPENING PT 4 create
@overlay OPENING PT 4 shifts to -28 246 in zone 2
@overlay OPENING PT 4 scales to 1.540 1.540
@overlay OPENING PT 4 opacity 1 in 1
@overlay OPENING PT 5 create
@overlay OPENING PT 5 shifts to -28 246 in zone 2
@overlay OPENING PT 5 scales to 1.540 1.540
@overlay OPENING PT 5 opacity 1 in 1
I used the create command but do it how you know how to do it and are comfortable. The coding process doesn’t look complex but it was quiet annoying to do especially with getting the timing and opacity right. Please enjoy this and credit me and the others:)

With ezgif, you can also make an APNG, a gift but in png format.
Happy I could help
Do you happen to know how to make it loop? I’m trying to make it look like my wolf overlays are animated; the wolf is just sitting idly in the scene, but I’d like him to move slightly so it’s more realistic. I’ve successfully done so, but after one time going through the animation, that’s it and he remains still. For whatever reason, it will not let me use the command “loop infinite times.” Any suggestions?
infinite commands only works with THEN and not AND
Did you try loop 60 times, for example, to make it a bit longer?
Thanks for the response! Unfortunately, I just now tried to loop it for a certain amount of times rather than infinite, and it’s not working. There’s no error or anything of the sort, but it doesn’t replay the animation.
Hi, I just wanna ask, where can you find free decent gifs than can be used in a story?
upload your own black background, the episode one is not working with overlays (it’s really hard to find them)
Oh ok ty
How can I make the overlays more smooth? and how can I loop a raining gif?
Very helpful! Thank you, I’m definetly using this for my story!
I’m doing this on an iPhone, and when I download the frames as Zip, it doesn’t do anything. Where do I find my downloads on an iPhone?
You would have to fina d tutorial on how to unzip and find it on an iPhone.
I actually re did it and now I’m doing it on my tablet, and yes, it did download the frames as Zip, but now, when I convert it to PNG, it takes me straight to Ibis Paint X.
Do I convert the gif to PNG or the frames to PNG?
The frames.
Thanks
No problem.
