I have definitely stopped reading stories if I didn’t like the only LI available. So from that perspective, I think having more than one is good OR having an option to reject the sole love interest altogether. Especially for a contest when you want to give people incentive to read all the way through your first 3 chapters.

I figured out the rest of the plot, she gets sucked into void because she was the only one left on earth, and she needs to know the truth of why Earth was destroyed.
