The next contest would probably be in October…
But I am not sure…
I saw someone say that so…yeah…
October? That’s so far away! Hopefully there’s one in August or something.
This is the August contest. The next one will be probably be announced around the deadline date or a week or two after and if it follows the same pattern, will be for an October shelf . You normally get around 8 weeks to work on your story so it might be announced in August but the deadline will (likely) be in October.
By August contest do you mean the winners are announced in August? What I meant is I hope there’s a contest that is announced in August.
edit: ignore me lol, I didn’t realize you just answered my question.
Is it necessary to ONLY have three episodes publsihed for the judging period? Will it screw up retention rates if I publish more than 3, or is it basically like only 3 episodes are judged and counted?
Ps would referring to a video game by name be a copyright issue?
Nope, it doesn’t count, I think, ususally in contests it’s okay to make more than 3 episodes, but only before the deadline. I don’t know if it’s different for this one.
With my story I’ve been following the story fairly closely, though I have added backstories for some characters and I’ve also added new characters to flesh it out and give the characters we all know and love new types of people to interact with. I haven’t used lines from the movie yet, but I think I might paraphrase some further down the line.
I hope this helps
Hey,
Most of animations are fixed now, but i notice these still dont work, just let you know:
dance_sway_loop_rear
talk_kneel_neutral_loop
pp_perform_opening
This sounds amazing!! I would love to do it if I can get my preview button to work lol
When would be the best time to upload? I’ve got 5 chapters written, just have to wait for background approval, do you think I should upload a couple of days before the deadline, or as soon as its ready?
Thanks for answering all of our questions! I just have one i am a little nervous about that didn’t get answered.
I was going to ask about this same retention factor…
Will all the stories be posted to a certain section where readers can easily access them fairly to decide which is the best one during the “judgement” of retention? or do people with higher followings have the advantage? If there is a “Dirty Dancing” section added will there be an explanation to readers to encourage them to at least check out every story? It is easy to only try reading the first few stories you see in the different sections thinking the best ones would be towards the first of the list… right? I agree retention is the reason we create for Episode but i’m worried about mine not even being seen…
There’s not going to be a section until they’d pick the winners and add them to the shelf. The only way for people to find our stories is to search for DD and all the stories will appear. Of course, we can post about it on Instagram and make threads here in the forum.
Honestly? After the contest, I wish if we’d submit a ticket about requesting our score, based on whatever system they use to judge the stories, that they would send it to us. At least we’d know if we lack choices, creativity, too many grammar mistakes or what, and wouldn’t let us wonder why we didn’t make the cut, or thinking it’s only based on getting the most reads…
Im all finished just waiting for everything to get approved!!
@Liz Can we still edit our story after we publish? As long as it’s before the deadline? I haven’t done the form, the hashtag with screenshot. So it’s not a 100% submission yet.
Liz is on a break so she won’t answer right now.
And since the deadline isn’t over, you can still edit your entry, if I’m correct.
Good to know! Thank you!
You’re welcome!
So if you don’t live in the US can you enter but not win the grand prize or not enter at all cause l wanna enter, but not for prizes and stuff. Just for the love of writing, plus I always wanted to give a 80s movie a twist
wow that’s a great idea and I think it deserves to be boosted!
Thank you! I really think they should consider this. And it would also help us improve what we’ve done wrong
