Hey @Melani3, I was just wondering how clear the source material needs to be in our stories. My story is going to be based on The Emperor’s New Clothes, which doesn’t really have a big event until the end. So if my story is 10 chapters, the Episode team may not be able to tell what my story is based on because they’ll only read 3 chapters. Would that be a problem?
Some non-Disney adaptions have her survive, I think the OP was more "Don’t copy frozen instead of snow queen.’’ Also , you can alter these stories if you want (that’s kind of the point).
I know, but again they are adoptasion, in the original she turns to sea foam,
Girl, you’d love my entry then!
i am a sucker for rumpelstiltskin. so, if your entry is going to involve him or has elements of him/the story, i will be hyped.
It’ll be a modern retelling and cross-over with two more stories, but he plays one of the main roles! The story will be called FT: The Tale of Three
not me promoting my story already
yes yes yes, may i know which other stories are going to play a part of this? i am like literally so hyped for this contest, but considering i literally just entered the last contest i feel like i have to resist myself haha.
So, The Christmas Carol is a viable option…? Because it’s on that list.
@Melani3 Should we be filling out the form after we write the 3 episodes, or when we publish, or now? Thanks!
I was going to sit that one down because Im still updating my Reveal entry, but I have this amazing and short idea, so I just had to go for it!
It wont invlove his story… but he will have a character! It’s FT: Preconceived Notions (although this is useless to u rn because its obviously not published!)
Amazing theme my favorite one!!
I am having a cover giveaway on insta @arts_elizaa if anyones interested
After! If you do it before you publish, they won’t have any story to read.
@Sky.Universe Picking a specific story instead of just a character type would be ideal. I bet there are plenty of Kitsune tales though!
@athenamae Contest stories are only judged on their first 3 chapters, so I would recommend having your story integrated into those chapters. (Flash forwards?)
@EdwardNorton my apologies, a Christmas Carol is also not a viable option.
@bluebird29 Please fill out the form when you publish your story!
That makes sense! LOL
thank you!
@Melani3 hey girl! I have a question you said greek mythology can be accepted but aren’t they myth and legends and not fairytales?
I have an idea to use a myth or legend about a greek god and re-adapt the version in my own way is it allowed? Like maybe having the same start as the myth but then at a certain point changing the story is that allowed? The main folk tale is set on ancient greek but my entry it will be in modern times like 2020, maybe having a few scene in the olympus but just a few one at the start not the entire story.
I want to do a story that involves Rapunzel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and The Magic Brush. I’m not sure if it will work or be allowed though lol😂 This contest is so interesting.
I believe the story of Rapunzel is allowed, but a story based on The Wonderful Wizard of Oz would not be permitted because it is not a folk/fairy tale. I have not heard of the story of The Magic Brush, but you should be able to use it if the story is a folk/fairy tale in the public domain.
To answer your first question: Greek mythology is allowed because (I believe) the stories are classified as folk tales. I’m not entirely sure about your second question, but it seems like it would be allowed.
Because I can’t do my original idea of Peter Pan, please will you tell me what you think of these ideas?
- Modern Day Robin Hood (possibly with a female Robin)
- Beauty and the Beast (but Belle is forced to work for a man cursed with tattoos each of which is a barrier to his curse)
- Cinderella (but she is a Princess, forced into exile with a lowly Baroness and her daughters when her father is killed)

Which of these do you like? I feel drawn to number 3 myself, but would like opinions
