I try to keep telling myself that the first chapter just needs so much time because it’s the one chance to really hook your readers and sweep them off their feet 
So, no pressure, hon! I think, the second and third chapter will be less stressful.

I also find this to be true. Also, the 1st chapter is usually the one that takes thw longest, because you need it to grab the attention. My first chapter is ± 40 minutes long, with customization and the prologue included

Oh wow, 40 minutes?! Kudos to you! I’m trying to keep it at 20-25 minutes max since some peeps stated that they prefer chapters not longer than 15 minutes.
But I still get what you mean! 
While still coding chapter 1, I find it quite hard to coordinate the scenes in a way that the storytelling remains comprehensible for the reader. Especially when it comes down to pace and how the scenes are evolving. My story is set in the action genre, so it’s kind of a balance act to keep a good pace and still providing the scenes with all the informations necessary for the reader without boring them.

I can’t believe it’s Thursday (well it’s Friday for some of you now, but not for me). I found myself panic-writing my latest post about the Heroic Journey, but ended up getting on a roll and now I have my next 2 posts ready. 
This week I wrote about the First Threshold. This is such an important part of the journey. I hope my post helps! How is everyone doing in the contest? I’m still planning planning planning. I want to get my journey just right. Perfectionism just go away
