Perhaps they really are overloaded with work at the moment and they’ve had to slow everything down so they can make their deadlines a bit more realistic. I guess it would make sense as to why the updates got smaller and smaller until they decided to do a monthly update. This app has really grown in the past 5 years and they could also be trying to go above and beyond with all their current projects before they start assigning new projects

This is a likely possibility! I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the case.
This may also be good for us too. Gives us a little break between contests just incase we find ourselves highly inspired to enter the next contest.

Maybe, but they just released Editor’s Picks on Friday. Unless they want to add a third shelf or temporarily take down the AAPI shelf, it doesn’t make a ton of sense to do it today, sadly.
I know everyone has been speculating as to what and when we will be announcing the next contest! I just wanted to check in to mention that we’re working on it and have just been vacillating between a couple different ideas. Should be coming soon!

It probably won’t be for awhile. They just asked for stories/authors on Instagram for a LGBTQ shelf

They only release shelves on Fridays. I suspect that it will be either this or next Friday, since EP is a one-week shelf, and Pride is probably going up on the 3rd of June (3 weeks from now). They may have another shelf from another prompt that is pending, but honestly, with contests, I’ve just learned to ride it out. Never won anyways

They typically ask for shelf recommendations 3-4 weeks in advance. There is nothing that would line up with the way they do shelves for the next 2 weeks other than hidden gems. So unless they come up with something else/make us all wait yet another 3 weeks+ then contest winners should likely be either this Friday or next. Episode typically follows patterns with shelves and there’s really 0 reason for them to make those of us who entered the contest wait weeks more when we’ve already waited 4+ at this point for results.

I mean, no one should really be expecting to win because I think that takes some of the fun out of it and can be more disappointing when results come but also no one wants to wait ages for results.
