ahh every time I see this post I think that they’ve announced the new contest😭
everyone’s waiting for the winners to be announced and i still haven’t gotten a review yet ;’)
Did your story get over 100 reads? if not then you won’t get reviewed.
If it did then just wait:) someone made a point that stories that are reviewed late sometimes end up winning
yes i have almost 2k reads as if now
Mine already has reads around 170s. But haven’t reviewed
I already lost hope of winning long ago, considering the low retention
this is probably the last time I enter a contest. So I am just here waiting to find out if my favs will win ![]()
What’s your story?
I think they take the gems choices into consideration for retention. This is bound to affect our retention from the first episode. I don’t know if I should have hope or let it go. I’m just anxious but I can wait another week if today is the hidden gems shelf and the results come out next week.
Into The Rage
I really hope they consider gem choices. But honestly I can’t wait for the contest to end so I could remove them ![]()
From what I read at the beginning, I believe that they dont take into consideration how many people select your gem choices. But, they do take into account the creativeness of your gem choice, as well as the minimum requirement of 2 gem choices per chapter.
Gem choices that dont count: skip the wait, early access, support the author, top ups for points. What they consider gem choices that count: bonus content of any kind, gem choices that change the storyline in the current chapter or in later chapters, exclusive outfits, hints for puzzels and games. Unlocking art or exclusive scenes.
Sorry if I am repeating any information you already knew. Lol
Omg you’re the author of that story
. I too am planning to do some revamping related to gems choices ![]()
According to Liz they aren’t.
I think it’s maybe more likely that gems have required them to lower their standards for retention (because obviously people clicking out the moment they see gem choices is effecting it for a lot of authors) but I doubt they’re paying attention to things like how many gems are spent or anything like that because that wouldn’t be fair. Someone with a larger audience would automatically have more gems than someone with a smaller one.
It might help if people put what their episode 1 completion rate was when they were reviewed. It’s probably the closest realistic number we have to retention at the moment. ![]()

Hey, don’t give up yet! You’ve been reviewed right? It’s likely if you had high enough retention (as far as I know) and I imagine they judge based on the retention you have when they review you so even if it’s gone down some you should still be alright. ![]()

I am not getting my hopes up anymore ![]()
and 500 passes?? ![]()

Mine was reviewed before the deadline. At that time retention was 70% ![]()
By saying into consideration I meant gems choices will surely affect our retention so they will know it’s because of that our retention is not high enough, that’s why they probably considered it while looking at retention.
Initially, from what I knew, and from the link they sent me, a story is reviewed when the retention matches what they want (& other aspects) and not all the contest entries are reviewed. But I’m a little confused, I really wonder if that’s how it happens but if it is, and you were reviewed even before the contest (meaning they feel you have enough retention to move on to the next step), the last aspect they will look at now is the rubric score and fit the theme.
Personally, I’d really like to know what “not all contest entries are reviewed” actually means for the episode team, themselves. They do not confirm whether that means some entries may make the winners shelf even though they haven’t been reviewed.
Ive taken part in 5 contests now. Ive been a winner in 2 of them previously. The two entries that made the winners shelf were both reviewed during the contest timeframe. The 2 that did not meet the requirements for the winner shelf were not reviewed during the contest. They only reviwed them months after the contest when the trending numbers went up.
Currently, the 5th contest, which is this one, I have veen reviwed and we are waiting on results. So I would really like to know if anyone has ever made the winners shelf without a review before? ![]()
I know that some authors previously didn’t receive an email about a review but they were among the winners. Episode told them that they forgot to notify but that their story had actually been reviewed. According to my opinion, it is not possible to be part of the shelf if the story is not reviewed and approved by their team
Thats also what I thought.
