@Liz Or other episode admin
Just to clarify, gem choices count as
-Special Outfits
-Choices (But they need to be worth the pay off like getting a big improvement on a relationship)
-Bonus Scenes
Gem choices do NOT count as Support the author or buying for more episodes instead of waiting.
Second question
can we have multiple endings to the story, like one is a bad ending due to bad choices and one is a good ending which is the mcs successful self recovery?
Question
So I had this idea, where the mc is heroic through the story but towards the end theirs a plot twist. I wondering if that still qualifies for the contest.
I think it should be fine as long as they’re finding who they are/go on a journey! Succeeding or failing isn’t specified, and neither is the possibility of the MC being evil.
Okay I’m so glad they made reference to Campbell. I wasn’t 100% positive I knew what I was talking about. So “The Hero’s Journey” follows a VERY specific format. That’s what they’re talking about. I had to read “The Hero with a Thousand Faces” for an English class in college. I think my freshman year. If you aren’t familiar with it I’m going into detail on my blog every Thursday.
Hello, lovely contestants! Here is a poll about including customization in our stories (the results will not change what I’ve planned for mine). “Customization” here can include both full and limited customization.
MC Customization and Choice of Gender; LI Customization and Choice of Gender
MC Customization and Choice of Gender; LI Customization
MC Customization; LI Customization and Choice of Gender
MC Customization; LI Customization
MC Choice of Gender; LI Choice of Gender
No Customization or Choice of Gender

Forgot to add a category for my story: MC limited customization and choice of gender; no customization for the LI because I’m lazy or choice of gender because they’re an alien species that can switch between biological s3xes at will.
I like that episode has given much time for this contest. And no. of choices depends upon writers, some stories have 0 choices in many episode but still readers love it…
Yup! I have one or two stories that I recommend that fall into that category because they SLAY. But for this contest, I feel like I need to add actual choices (as opposed to in my other WIP) to have a shot .
Update: HOW DID I NOT HAVE PSYCHOLOGY 101 RECOMMENDED!? That is now rectified.
@Tory@Liz I have been submitting tickets to ask questions to the review team regarding some clarification about the contest and the contest rules as per the link given in the original post, but the person who answered my email didn’t give me any clarification. They simply told me to look for writing tips in the forums… which I will not find as I’m not looking for writing tips.
@anon6748744 is completely correct. Refusal of the call to action is part of the journey.
Topping up points won’t count towards the requirement, but the other examples would be fine.
Bonus Content/Scenes
Outfits
Dialogue choices
So in the Campbell flow, it can be aid (supernatural or not) or a mentor or both.
Yep! That’s the deadline.
Correct. Also, yes, ideally your choices should be worth the payoff.
Yes, that is totally fine to have two different endings.
As I said in a different response, you can explore a hero’s journey, an anti-hero’s journey, a journey failure, etc.
Can you PM me your ticket number please?
Thanks @CosmicIvy, @TrinityUnderdog, and @1Foreign_Soul for sharing some further resources on Campbell’s hero’s journey for those who may not know the specifics!
@Tory, Say I am writing about a person that is going to travel somewhere against their will, does this need to be portrayed in the first episode (that the person actually travels somewhere against their will), or can the person just be made aware of it? And is it possible to show the motive that makes them forced to leave, while the character does not leave before the second chapter?
