Announcing the KISS & TELL Creator's Contest

I believe that there will be two BHM shelves for the month, so the next one will be out next week.
Contest shelves are usually two weeks as well, and last years came out the week before V day if I remember correctly. (So this way the two weeks will cover Valentines day).
But it was just a guess :woman_shrugging:t4:

Any word on when the winners will be announced?

On a related note, how many of you guys had your stories reviewed already??

people keep saying vday

If I had to guess I’d say Vday. :woman_shrugging:t2: It doesn’t make much sense to have a romance based prompt and then not put it cliche-ly on Valentine’s Day. :joy::joy::joy:

And mine was reviewed :eyes:.

Why’s everyone keep asking if their k&t stories have been reviewed? That means what? That story is probably gonna get a spot?

You get an email from Episode saying your story has been reviewed and whether or not it’s approved or you’ll have to make some changes!

I know but the Missed Connections contest winners were announced on Feb 9 of last year hence the uncertainty

I imagine they try to do it as close to Valentine’s without passing it, so since it falls on Friday this year it would make sense to put it then. Of course I don’t work for Episode so I couldn’t say this for certain.
I also think since this is Black History Month and they still had to get January Editors picks out of the way they wanted to focus on those first, though I could be wrong. :woman_shrugging:t2:

Since the change to the review process in October, you get emailed if your story has passed review and can be shown on the trending sections. I had one of my stories reviewed before it was featured (you possibly got an email as well before the BHM shelf?). So based on that, it seems likely that any story being considered for the shelf is going to have to be reviewed and will receive an email.

If you have not read this, I recommend reading this post:

Not every story will actually be read.

Just the ones that stand a shot at winning?

The steps are on the post.
First, a story has to pass all the basic guidelines (e.g correct name, published during the correct time).
Then, a story needs to have 100 reads to pass to the next step- retention. According to the post, typically only 15-30 stories pass this stage and then it sounds like all of those are read and scored against the rubric.

Ah gotcha. Thank you ~

I am so afraid I wont get 100 reads to the magica contestm with my last story that took mounths

You tend to find that the community can be very supportive with contest entries.
The first time I entered a contest, I only had one other story (with like 100ish reads lol), hardly any followers on IG and no one knew me. My contest entry gained 1000 reads in a week because people were super supportive and shared it. I also did a lot of contest read for reads which really helped too. I normally don’t like R4R’s but with contest entries, you usually only have 3 chapters anyway so if you agree to each read all the chapters, that’ll help newer authors.
