Describing your idea on a thread means that anyone can see it.
PM gives you some form of control over who sees it. EG. Some people will only tell 5 people, or only tell close friends.

My two cents:
For Episode as a business, contests help get more reads on community stories, which helps with advertising revenue.
This also benefits writers who are trying to get noticed and break into the payment program, or writers who already are in it, like me.
It’s also really fun! This’ll be my fourth contest.

@Melani3 what if the story is completed and the reveal happens in the last episode does it still count? (a 4 episode story btw)

The reveal needs to be within the first three episodes, also the main story I think is meant to be about what happens BECAUSE of the reveal, not just have a plot twist in the story

Do the reads count after I publish, or after the deadline ie 7 Oct only?

Reads only count to the 100 goal after the deadline.
It’s recommended you don’t publish your story until a few days before the deadline

So all the promotion should be done in the window of 3- 6 weeks?

Yup. Normally a lot of r4r threads open around deadlines, so you could likely get most of your reads there.

Ok. I cannot enter this, it seems.
I keep wanting to use elements from movies (The Truman Show, Beetlejuice, The Others, that kinda shit), so I don’t think it would be original enough.
