Small things can have a lot more significance if you plan it out a bit more. It helps! I just got done outlining all of my episodes, I only have three more side characters until I can start. It can take a while, but it’s definitely worth it. If you educate the reader on certain things in the beginning that also helps with the reveal as well as the plot in general. It makes it easier to write in all honesty. Hope this was helpful!

take a break. the contest starts in october, so spend time outside with fresh air or do things you like (other than writing). whenever i’m stuck, i always do one of these and it gives me a fresh perspective on my story and an idea just pops into my head. you can do it!

I think it has to be introduced within the 3 chapters. So you can have a buildup for the first chapter, and then in the second chapter the problem/change is stated. At least that’s what I’m doing😏

@Melani3 if i had a story that has a mc and an “imaginary friend” could the reveal be something along the lines of the imaginary friend turning out to be real? 
And, um, 2nd question would my story qualify if the reveal was in the second or third episode?

I think it doesn’t matter. The reveal just have to happen in the first three chapters
