That’s good yet sad to know other people have gone through similar things :pensive:

The only stories about black people is them being oppressed.

Tbh, I understand some stories that talk about oppression (American history is very whitewashed and they brush over African and Native American history a lot). But struggle story after struggle story does get tiring and repetitive as hell.

I agree. Maybe give a black person a personality and have them like do normal stuff

I haven’t personally been offended by this but I don’t speak for everyone when I say what’s up the the Latinos/Hispanics being the bad guys? (or for that matter I’ve never once seen a woman/female as a Latina/hispanic in any story ever, and I’ve read plenty of mafia (etc) stories. And another thing. I myself as a Latina have fairly neutral brown-lightish skin, we’re not all this dark tan nonsense. I’ve seen people in person who have fairly light skin and their native language is Spanish, this person also happens to have blue eyes… Sorry for rambling, but I’ve seen it…

This isn’t my own personal experience, but my ex girlfriend is Afro Latina and just because she was Black, people would always think she was unintelligent and / or couldn’t speak English. When we would go out in public, people would talk to me as if I was supposed to translate or something. And when I’d tell them she spoke fluent English and Spanish, they’d speak to her in dumbed-down, slow, and broken English. Absolutely disgusting. I never knew how to react and I’d always apologize profusely to her

Hi! So I’m Asian and a few rude things I’ve experienced are:
In elementary school for a whole year, a bunch of maybe classmates thought I couldn’t speak English (they told me the year after when they realized that my English was better than theirs). Also, when people congratulate me for my good English because since I’m Asian I guess English can’t be my first language. People who make snide comments, like: “I though Asians were supposed to be smart” really piss me off.
Another thing: since COVID began and the Asian hate crimes have gone up, people are also starting to say and do rude stuff to push the blame for COVID. It’s really sad that in the middle of a global pandemic, COVID might not be the greatest threat to my grandparents’ and parents’ lives.
Anyway, thanks for listening to my rant and I apologize for my bad grammar, as I’m on my tiny iPhone 5s right now.

That’s kinda crazy for them to think that English can’t be your first language… especially if you live in an English-speaking country (I’m just assuming, correct me if I’m wrong.)

this isn’t really like as bad as everyone else’s.
but imma say it anyway. I’m mixed (White and Puerto Rican ) and everyone assumes that i speak Spanish really well. And to be truthful i don’t. I’m taking Spanish class, because my dads dad lives in Puerto Rico and his wife doesn’t speak English very well. But I think it’s a bit rude when people assume things like that. I dunno what y’all think but yeah.

omg girl! preach!!! :raised_hands: I’m American Indian and everyone assumes that if I get a B then my parents will disown me. Its a misconception that all Indian parents want their kids to become lawyers or doctors. I’m not denying that there are some parents like this but most parents aren’t. They want to us to just get a respectable and make a good living. :blob_hearts: Like and reply if you face this as well…

My mom has wavy curly hair, and my Grandma is always like “why don’t you brush your hair?!” And my mom is like ITS CURLY. It’s already brushed.

The stereotype still exists. There are some Nazis in Germany, they are a vocal minority in a way. But the rest of Germans aren’t like that.
