I have done this previously in the script and it has worked but for some reason this won’t work smoothly. Instead of just zooming on the character first thing in the new scene it zooms on a random part of the background then snaps into place but its frustrating. Please help if you can!

change the @ of the characters with &
Have you added a zoom reset before it? Because there may have been a zoom in the previous scene and so it remains zoomed at that spot after which it zooms on the character.

Yes, I have, it’s so frustrating and weird!! I’ll have a fiddle around with it more though. Thank you!
@Adrija I’ve done it!!! Thank you for helping me with the zoom reset, just had to swap things around
