Many of them, really! If I had to narrow it down though, I particularly enjoy Beethovenās PathĆ©tiqueā Sonata, Mozartās Sonata for Two Pianos in D major (K 448), The Great Gate of Kiev from Mussorgskyās Pictures at an Exhibition, Chopinās Ćtude op. 10 no. 4, Beethovenās āRage Over a Lost Pennyā and Brahmsā Sixteen Waltzes no. 15 in A flat major.

Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven movement 3.
I love playing Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin, itās so lively and energetic (I love ragtime!) Also trying my luck with Chopinās minuten waltz (rlly hard but really good too!) and Iām thinking about learning Fantasie Impromptu - gonna be a nightmare to learn but itās an absolutely beautiful piece!
Big fan of some Bach pieces as well, but more of his Cello suites than his piano pieces.
Iām not as good with the names of the pieces lol but Iām a huge fan of Chopin and Brahmsā pieces as well! Nice to know thereās people in the community with same enjoyment for classical music!
And I love Scott Joplin as well - how could I forget him? Bach is another of my favourite composers as well!
Iām a bit late to this thread, but my favorite piece to play is Chopinās Prelude in E Minor (Op. 28, No. 4). It is a beautiful, melancholy piece. Itās also not too complicated as Chopin goes. Chopin even requested it to be played at his funeral.

Does anyone know a piece that is less well-known but still beautiful (in your opinion ofc)?

Heyy girly, I am self learning almost for a year now and Iāve always wanted to play Nuvole Bianche⦠Now I finally started with learning it and can I tell you⦠I love it with all my heart, but not gonna lie, its hard af
Thatās impressive and amazing!
Is there anything else you wan to play in the future or already can play? Was it hard for you to practise (regularly) and stay disciplined?
Iām currently binging Ludovico Einaudi ![]()
I just learned A Fuoco and would love to learn this one next:
I should probably be finishing my own songs, though ![]()
Is there anyone else who writes their own compositions? ![]()
Well, I am practicing a little bit everyday. I think that you shouldnāt force yourself into it tho, because then you may take it more as a duty than as a hobby
I think that for me itās better to play for about 30 minutes everyday than for example two hours in one piece in a week or so. So Iād definitely recommend that
And for the songs I already learnedā¦I really love playing popular songs more than symphonies, because itās a) much easier for me to remember because I sing the words in my head and b) I can learn it from videos on youtube, so itās quite accessible for everyone (so for instance Iāve already learned - Shallow, Summertime Sadness, Ocean Eyes or The Hanging Tree from Hunger Games
)
But Iād like to learn the whole Für Elise symphony, I only can play the shortened version of it
Yeah, heās the best
And itās very impressive that you can compose on your own
I admire talented people like u
Thanks, Katherine! Although Iām far from talented.
I wish I had a knack for music, but my skill comes from years and years of making mistakes and learning from them. Composing is actually easier for me since I read sheet music at a snailās pace.
Sometimes a strong memory or emotion moves me to compose, but most of the time Iām just struggling with learning a song (or getting bored with it), so I mess around and accidentally create something new in the process.
Rhapsody on a theme of Paganinini is the last piano piece I listened to and loved
Well, thatās interesting
yeah it can get boring sometimes when the song is too long or when it seems too complicated for me as a beginner, but most of the time I enjoy learning my favourite songs very much
