Are we allowed to create spin offs?

I was watching an old favourite of mine ( Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory) and it got to that creepy part with the tinker outside the factory and it sparked an idea in my head. What if the film was a lot darker than it seemed?

But I wasn’t sure if I would be allowed to do a spin off due to copyright? It would be sort of the same (kids find golden tickets and go to a chocolate factory) but the story line itself would be a lot darker than the original making it different to the original.

Would this be allowed?

I don’t think so. Episode has a policy that you can’t be too inspired by or write about a real show/story/book cause of the copyright issues. I mean, you can be inspired but just be sure not to make the story lines too similar and don’t explicitly put the name of any characters/the name of the movie anywhere in the story. Maybe you can change the character names and stuff

Only if you get permission from episode AND the people who made the tv show. But what’s the point in making something that’s already been made? Try and make something with your own plot twists, and your own story. Because the game is called, Episode Choose YOUR Story!

This post is old now :stuck_out_tongue: but thanks for the reply. Perhaps it wasn’t very clear. It wouldn’t be the same at all just a similar theme.

I changed my mind on the story anyway :stuck_out_tongue:
