So this morning like literally at 5AM i was about to head to sleep when all of a sudden this question come into my head…the question is
HOW DO ARTIST FEEL ABOUT THISSTRIKE?
I’m curious to know how they feel becauseI recently had some artists make me some Drawn splashes, and you know, or if you didn’t know, part of the strike is putting your stories on hold until episode fixes “the problem”
but what if they don’t fix the problem…what then? Does that mean ALL of these artist’s hard work they made for you for your cover, splash, art scene, etc, will just go to waste or what going to happen? And if you’re an artist who is also a writer, what comes first to you, your art or your writing, or both equally? But how do you feel about people putting their stories on hold?
What I’ve done is gone on strike for writing but I’m still going with my editing. I have a decently long spring break so Ive been trying to get requests but everytime I look, the same art shop has put theirs on that thread to sksksks
In my opinion with the art, I’ve been doing requests but it’s up to the artist if they want to use it for their story or not. I’m just doing it to give me something to do.
The only I did is quit writing but definitely not editing. I love doing that more than breathing. I would be angry if artist/editor couldn’t draw/edit episode character etc so I can feel how some author are going through with the guidelines. But I’m not on full on strike but I support those who are. I’m also loving the memes too I just personally really dislike the no crossover or featuring real authors/editor/community members, etc. I dunno about others putting their story on hold tbh. I can see why they would. If that’s what you want to do then go for it, I can’t blame them. But those on full strike - I admire y’all’s courage and strength. It’s nice seeing community members together and fighting for what they want rather than staying quite.
Yeah I agree. And yes that would suck if we couldn’t edit episode features. I have a feeling it will happen so I’ve been doing more realistic art recently.
And to stay on topic…
I do admire everyone on full blown strike. And I love to see some big editors and people on Instagram doing it. I think that is inspiring a lot of people to join them.
How do artists feel about the strike?? Um…well, I personally feel like it is kinda makin’ sense…somewhat? I think a strike is honestly too far, like…kinda not needed as well as it will most likely be fruitless. There’s ways sorta around the issue, change the way your characters look, lie and say it is a coincidence, LOL - don’t mention people in your stories where you got 'em from, like…there isn’t an actual law issue with this, it is just Episode being Episode, so shrugs
Strike if you wanna, I won’t judge I suppose, but I do believe that it is fruitless to do so and I won’t be doing it.
LOL - You don’t know about this big ol’ ruckus about Episodians going on strike since Episode said we can’t use each others’ characters anymore? They call it “crossovers”, which…I don’t really like that word, but shrugs
I’m not on strike, but I barely ever go on the episode app, so you could say I’m always on strike, even before this happened
I’ll always be editing. I just love doing art too much.
I’m also writing, but I’ll probably never publish. So it doesn’t really matter?
I do think these “new/clarified” rules are ridiculous and stupid, but I also kinda think the strike is useless, I mean there will always be thousands of reader(that doesn’t have forum or instagram) that are reading the stories and making money for episode. So I don’t think it will work. As well as that, episode can’t/won’t ve checking every single stories to make sure you don’t have crossover/too much punches, right? So I think it’s okay to sneak a crossover, just don’t make it too obvious.
Tbh what can we actually do? We can’t really march up to the episoe office and make them change it back, and unfollowing them or instagram won’t really do anything. I guess we will just have to live with it.
As an artist I don’t give a shit about episode strike because I’m trying to focus on my style instead of episode, and as an writer I am defo not going on strike because it’s silly. This is the same as the background thing. Everybody was against and protesting, nothing changed and here we are, not really suffering from it but hey, if you wanna strike, go for it, more readers for me xD
Honestly it depends on each artist and how invested they are with the episode app and community. How each of them are affected by this and if they want change or not
I dont know if i am making complete sense but hope this gives a view on this problem
Ugh idk I feel like it’s kinda pointless and I won’t be joining the strike. However I would be sad if a cover or art scene I made for free wouldn’t be used because of this since I’ve put my heart and soul into it, but I rarely do free art so it doesn’t affect me that much. When it comes to writing I won’t be striking, I just don’t think anything will come from it.
