The last time I went to the philippines was two years ago! My father’s side of the family came from wealthy businesses. My mother’s side lived a not very rich life. I really like visiting my mothers side because we keeps things traditional (my dad loves it too) but there are many financial problems and drama. Though my dad’s side is very fun and we love just going out and being a family all together because they never worry about money, they are just a bit spoiled haha. Overall, living in Canada I realized growing up is such a privilege and I really wish i could bring my cousins here :))

I like to visit Asia on holiday but I haven’t been back to visit my grandparents since 2010 (I mean back to China)

yeah! every two years, my family on my mom’s side has a wedding in philippines so we try our best💀 we were supposed to go again next year, but we probably won’t since the financial difficulty of traveling and our lack of time…

I’ve been visiting Thailand since I was about 2 years old, not really to visit my roots, more like just to visit family over there or some nice landscapes/attractions. The only one who goes there for her roots is my mom. We normally go back once every 2-3 years, but it gets kind of boring and the heat almost kills me if I don’t put on the A/C.
Haven’t visited in awhile though and I don’t know when I’ll visit again, but it’ll probably be within the next year or two depending on our covid restrictions since my mom and I would like to take my daughter (she’s only 2 and the family over there haven’t met her yet).
I’m basically like a tourist when I’m over there though. I only speak English and they don’t (really) – they also call me a “felung/farang” which is a “white person/foreigner” occasionally though they’ll call me a “lukkhrung” which is “half/mixed” but it’s mostly the first one.

I havent been to Vietnam in years. I’ve only been there twice when I was little. We havent gone back because Vietnam isn’t the best country to go to and because of other issues. We might go when i graduate highschool tho or to Japan

Half-Thai here as well, I absolutely cannot count the amount of times I’ve been called Farang! Even my mother (native Thai, moved to America) gets called Farang occasionally because she’s spent so many years in America

@tiff_episode ! I usually go back every other year but I skipped this year because of the whole pandemic and all, but my cousin went back this summer but she ended up staying there.
