Awkward Cut Between Scenes

In my script I change backgrounds in this order to simulate someone following another person.

EXT. CITY HIGHWAY LOOP - DAY with CAR ANGLE VINTAGE
EXT. CITY HIGHWAY LOOP - DAY with CAR SIDE BROWN
EXT. CITY HIGHWAY LOOP - DAY with CAR ANGLE VINTAGE
EXT. CITY HIGHWAY LOOP - DAY with CAR SIDE BROWN
A random outdoor scene

I tried using the curtain transition to smooth it out but that made it worse.

Is it because they’re both looping backgrounds?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Try using the fade or iris transition, maybe.:slightly_smiling_face:

You need a pause or narration after each background other wise it will just skip them all. A transition will literally open the scene then skip to the next one without a pause which is why you’re getting that jumpy/cut between them. I would recommend putting @pause for S without a transition for this kind of scene
(S = number of seconds)

Thanks so much to you both for replying. I guess I’m a little rusty with writing on here.

Both of your solutions worked. I paused for some time then used the iris transition and now the awkward jolt to the next scene is gone.
