Big egos and missused words [DISCUSS]

Why do so many art shops and artists here have big egos. Now i know most dont. But somedo. They say they make ‘profesional’ art and that ‘they have the best art shop’. like no hun. If you get paid for art your a profesional. If you do it because its fun then your just a hobyist. Theres nothing wrong with that there alot of good artists who do not charge money for art. but i wish that people would stop throwing the word profesional around because that is just lying.

I undertsand be proud of your art and such and I am not extually that good myself.

but so many here suck at art but act like they are good. and if you tell them they are not good. other people are gonna attack you for saying the truth.

I am not been rude I am just saying they are not that they are not good. you know why because if you tell people they are good at something they arent they will not improve because they already think they are good.

there is nothing wrong with encourage people. but people need to understand you have to tell the truth too.

there is also a lof of artist here who are good at colering but what they are doing is tracing. which if you talk to most actual artist who do it as a job, they will tell you that is not art but more kinda like theft.

I thought I was the only one who thought like this! Just look at the art share threads. There so many people who trace stock photos and anime. you can tell because the shape of the art is amazing but the rest is just meh.

Hmm, well I don’t really mind tbh.
These people DO make art for you for FREE…

When in doubt, dictionary.

Dictionary has spoken.

Although tbh, I’d be absolutely fine fluffing someone’s ego if they were giving me stuff for free. I generally prefer to do things myself, but hey, if I need some art, and they need some , then let’s make a deal. :upside_down_face: They should be taking constructive criticism and learning, but I’m not the one to give it, since I can’t do any digital art that doesn’t look like it was thrown together by a fifth grader who finished her computer lab assignment early.

I’d imagine tracing a copyrighted photo is still subject to its associated copyright. Definitely rude to trace non-copyrighted art and not give credit, though. Nothing wrong with tracing things for fun, but very rude to call it your own or try to pass/sell it like your own.

I don’t really care to be honest. They probably think that all good art must be professional and use that word to gather more requests. I wouldn’t say they have big egos for calling themselves professionals since so many people use that word, and they just want more people to look at their thread, that’s all. I’ve never seen an actual professional artist on the forums before.

I agree.

Lol not rlly. Plenty of good artists got their start from tracing and referencing other images first. I don’t think it’s a problem for people to start small and get better until they learn new things.

Edit: wanted to add that it’s obvious they should credit original creators. In addition, there are mannyyyy artists on Pinterest and DeviantArt that actually create pose references for the purpose of helping learning artists grow. They just have to follow the required rules.

actually most artist sketch they dont trace its very diffrent work.

trace it’s taking a picture and draw over it. sketching is looking at a picture and draw it by the side of it. on a diffrent papir

I’m not talking about all artists. I’m talking about people who are still learning, which is a majority of the people here on the forums.

I think tracing is fine as long as there is proper credit given (+ permission for author, depending on the situation) and if it’s not being commissioned.

Definitely not professional.
