How do readers feel about a story that shows bloopers at the end, like it was just a movie with actors?
I’ve read a few authors stories that had them at the end… i personally don’t like them added, only because like reading a great book ,you like to escape in the fantasy, you get invested in the characters , you feel their emotions ,you feel happy for them , sad for them, etc ,
but then with the bloopers at the end of an episode story, your bought back to reality , your investment was wasted, it was just like a film, they acted it all… So I couldn’t replay a story ,even if it was great, I could never get the same feeling it gave first time round ,I wouldn’t believe anything the characters say or go through, as the bloopers at end ruined my investment, and made it just a movie with actors…
Uhh to me it’s totally unnecessary unless the actual story is supposed to be acting in a movie or series because if they have bloopers at the end and the story isn’t supposed to be acting, it can confuse me and make me wonder if the story is about actors and actresses acting out a movie/series or not and makes me question if the chemistry and dialogue is even “real.”
The bloopers show it was just a movie being acted , so just like a film is , nothing they say or felt or did was real, just a script they read… and that ruins the story for me
Oh, I was just speaking generally because I’ve come across a few stories like it and they leave me confused. Some had it at the end and others had bloopers at the end of several chapters.
A friend of mine has a story like that and I still don’t know if it’s fake or real just because I can’t tell if they’re just bonus scenes for fun or if that’s how the story is actually “revealed”.
I get how you feel though, it’s terrible to realize that none of it was real after being so emotionally invested.
And that last bit sounds like real relationships lmao.
Yes mif they added the option to view if you want to, instead of just showing it straight after story, with no warning…, although even if you see it as an option, your still Going to realise the author sees it as a movie ,so doesn’t help with the disappointment
There are stories that are supposed to be viewed as shows where I think it’d work well. Especially if they’re in the comedy genre. For example in Laundry Shop by Funeral Cats it would work very well imo. And it would because the story features stuff such as, you need to play every episode from a menu as if it was a TV show, and like any TV show it has an opening song, there are no choices, etc…
But like others said, if the story isn’t supposed to be perceived as a show or a movie, then it would just spoil the whole experience.
Agree, adding bloopers is showing me it was just a movie with actors following a script, totally ruins the investment I put in to the characters and my experience
I don’t like it, at all! It’s maybe okay if it’s meant to be like TV show. I mean no main character, no choices etc. then I would like them a little bit but just a big NONO
In my opinion, bloopers are unnecessary. For me, Episode stories are digital books (and sometimes games if the story has many mini games), not films or TV shows.
I’d prefer bonus scenes or alternate universes (e.g. what if the story is like a silent film or what if the story takes place in the medieval times, etc.).
If it fits the story - for example the MC is an actress - I would love this, because it sounds hilarious and it would be a fun addition to the story.
If it does not fit the story, I would personally have the gem choice at the end be something else. Like an extra scene from another character’s perspective or something.
Honestly, I really don’t care if there are bloopers or not, but I think there should be a warning to avoid misunderstandings and an option for you to choose whether you want to read bloopers.
