Can someone explain gains to me?

I’m using gains for my story but I don’t know how :sweat_smile:
I have to use it for sexuality choices, or else it doesn’t work. Heres what it is:

NARRATOR
You are in to:
choice (lover)
“Girls”{
NARRATOR
Your love interests will be female.
NARRATOR
Lets get started!
gain date_girls
goto girl_story
} “Boys”{
NARRATOR
Your love interests will be male.
NARRATOR
Lets get started!
gain date_boys
goto boy_story
} “Girls and Boys”{
NARRATOR
Your love interests will be mixed.
NARRATOR
Lets get started!
gain date_both
goto both_story
}

How can I use them again later in the story in the second episode and so on? I don’t exactly know what elif or else things are and all the things I’ve read on how to use them have been confusing.

Hello, I can help :wave: :heart:

So under this, for episode 1, you’d write:

label girl_story
#paste whole story line here for dating female love interests.
goto merge_story

label boy_story
#paste whole story line here for dating male love interests.
goto merge_story

label both_story
#paste whole story line here for dating male and female love interests.
goto merge_story

label merge_story
#paste ending credits here

That is episode 1, I’m about to show you what you do for episodes 2 and up :+1:

Also I noticed you wrote lets, but it is let’s (Let us) so it becomes Let’s get started/let us get started

Episodes 2 and up:

if (date_girls){

goto girl_story

}elif (date_boys){

goto boy_story

}else{

goto both_story

}

label girl_story
#paste whole story line here for dating female love interests.
goto merge_story

label boy_story
#paste whole story line here for dating male love interests.
goto merge_story

label both_story
#paste whole story line here for dating male and female love interests.
goto merge_story

label merge_story
#paste ending credits here

check the link below. Tara is great with coding and she explains it well.
