Can someone help me make this scene work with all the overlays that go with the background (This is only the beginning of the scene, because I need the overlays to work in order to do the rest)
Do you want them all layered or is it something else that you wanted?

I need help layering and moving them to make it look good.
Okay, so whereabouts did you want the characters, like behind/in front of which overlays specifically?

In front of the table and first counter and behind the second counter
Okay. I’d have the table at layer 0, the first counter at layer 1, one of the characters at layer 2, the other character at layer 3 and the second counter at layer 4.
For each overlay you’d add “at layer 0”, “at layer 1” etc. for the character it would be “AND CHARACTER moves to layer 2” etc.

Thanks. But I still need help placing them. When they’re not manually placed, they just pile on top of each other.
It’s easier to place things when they’re already in their right layers, so I just wanted to get that sorted first.
If you wanted to place the overlays first without the characters getting in the way (and get to do them afterwards), you can just add #s to the front of their codes:
Whether you use the web previewer or the app, you’ll want to select Show Helpers, then Spot Directing, then Change Overlay.
The name of the overlay that you’ve selected will show up on the bottom left in a grey box, and it’s coordinates will also show there.
You can adjust the scale by using your fingers to pinch the overlay, or you can shift it using one finger.
Once you’ve placed it into your desired spot, you can code in the coordinates, for EXAMPLE:
The first set is the size (in this example: 1.000), the second set is the x coordinates (in this example: 160), the last set is the y coordinates (in this example: 0).
Once you’ve done that, you can press “Change Overlay” again and do the same process for the next overlay.
Once you’ve done them all, you can remove the hashtags from the character lines so that the script recognizes them as valid commands again and you can do the exact same process as with the overlays, except you’d press “Change Char” instead of “Change Overlay”. You’d also then code their coordinates using ‘spot’ instead of ‘to’ for EXAMPLE:
Sorry I can’t give you exact coordinates and zones atm, but I hope that helps guide you so you might be able to do them yourself – now and into the future (I hope that doesn’t come off as mean cuz that really ain’t my intention).

I already tried. I can’t. Not with so many overlays.
What is it that you can’t? Can’t shift the overlays? The overlays didn’t appear as to the directed script?
Did you watch some tutorials on how overlays work? If you haven’t, here are some of the videos that might help you through. It’s pretty much summarized as above mentioned, just in visual form
I can’t use that many overlays at once and make it look good.
If that is complicating you, you can try placing one overlay at a time into the scene, resize and spot direct to the place you want it to be in. Script that code in before placing another overlay into the scene, and repeat. Does this method sound better for you?

That’s too complicated, and I don’t even know where I should place everything. That’s why I need help.
I look at it and it seems the overlays do not 100% fit the BG so it’s about where you want it not where it belongs to.
For example the front counter on position 0 0 works for zone 1 and 2 but not for zone 3 - there it needs to be lower so it depends on which zones of the BG you are going to use
Do you want a front counter od the island atc…
This is not about setting it all but about picking what you want and set it on scene.
Honestly its weird but I believe it is created this way to alow to make more than just one BG from this with the overlay combination.
I already tried, I can’t do it on my own, because of how many there are. I’ve said this numerous times.
I fully understand but plse undestand what I say - there is no ONE right way how to set them
ITS ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT TO LOOK IT LIKE and about WHAT ZONE YOU WANT TO USE.
Since positioning all 3 will simply NEVER work for all 3 zones.
this is for zone 3
And this is the same overlay but for zone 1 - as you see the same overlay is in different position
I’ve decided to only use one, can anyone help me with this now:
INT. KITCHEN MIDDLE CLASS KITCHEN - DAY with INT. KITCHEN MIDDLE CLASS KITCHEN ISLAND COUNTER - DAY
&DEREK stands screen right AND DEREK faces left AND DEREK is deepbreath
@ANNA stands screen left AND ANNA faces right AND ANNA is idle_sad_timid_loop
ANNA (talk_sheepish_rubneck)
Go change into something comfy, and I’ll get us both a bowl of ice-cream.
DEREK (talk_sheepish_rubneck)
Okay, thank you.
&DEREK exits right AND DEREK is walk_sad_loop
@ANNA is tinker_stand_neutral_loop_rear
@pause for 2
@DEREK changes into DEREK_comfortable
@DEREK enters from right to screen right AND DEREK is walk_sad_loop
I’ve tried but it’s either too small or too big when I try.
you will most likely need to spot direct the characters too - do you know how to do it?
In which zone you want the scene to happen - since I believe this island is meant to be mostly in zone 2

I know HOW but I want it to look GOOD as well.
