I’m trying to let the reader customise quite a lot of characters in the same episode, but since I’m using overlays it’s a “heavy code”
So my question is, would you like to customise all the characters in the same episode so my efforts to make everything work are repaid or would you prefer to customise 4/5 characters for episode?
I like to customise the characters as I meet them.
Why do you have so many characters to customise? I’ve exited stories before that made me customise literally everyone lol
Because they kinda are all relevant, but you don’t have to customise them if you don’t want
And I’m doing it separately because there are so many, so that if you want to customise only the MC you can do that
I read a story once where you had to name them all too. I gave up quickly lol.
I still prefer to meet the characters first, personally, so I know who I’m customising (but some people don’t care).
I think you should just let the reader customise the Mc and then if there are love interests let the reader customise them as they meet them because for me i need to know the characters personality before i customise them. Also it does get boring having to customise a lot of characters in a row.
Fair enough.
Maybe you should give the reader the option to customize the characters and to not customize? Or you could let them customize one character each episode. First episode start with the mc and in the second episode you could tell the reader that they can only customize one character this chapter and have them pick who they would like to customize. Not exactly sure what the code would be for It tho
But at the end of the day. It’s your story. Your the author do whatever works for you. Good luck writing! Lemme know if you need any help with anything.
Honestly, I think customizing only a few characters tends to be a bit better. When you customize all the characters, the reader tends to get a bit bored and sometimes the characters aren’t as well developed.
If you’ve ever played the app choices, you could do something similar to that? 3 premade looks for each character and the reader choose from the three available?
This would kinda force the reader to customise them, and I don’t want that
Yes I know that you can change nothing and go on, but still I don’t think it’s the best idea
maybe you can select different looks of different ethnics for the LI if you have one. You can take Victor from Prom Night as an example, that way the reader can choose between 3 choices of LI’s appearances and not have to include a whole CC template for the LI in the story.
