Changing characters name midway through story

I’m gonna try to word this so it makes sense, so bear with me. Does anyone know how to change a characters name midway through a story? Not the main characters name like how the reader will type it in the box to change it. But like when the character is talking it shows a different name than previously? I need to change a characters name midway through my story, but so it still shows up as the original name in previous chapters, but I’m not sure how I’d do this. Thank you in advance, I hope this made sense lol

If I understand this correctly, do you mean like at a flash back, the MC’s name is smth like “Young Mia” for the flash back or smth like that? And them at the present it’s just “Mia”,? If so, you need another character or clone that has a different default and/or script name from the actual character.
