Character facial expressions change while the character doesn't move

Hi there,
Guys, I’ve been reading loco amor revenge and without you… and both these authors have their character stationery but only the facial expressions move. I’ve tried searching on the forum for previous posts, found one thread about expressions change with outfits. But it’s not working for me. I tried it by making an overlay, but it looks odd… this is for ink. Please help me… I really need to know how it’s done… please…

dont change the outfits
also they use overlays

Okay. So it’s just eyes and mouth overlays I’m guessing.
