Hi everyone, Hope you guys are having a good day/Night!
So the issue with my script im having is that my character tempest isnt appearing on screen whilst shes falling and I’ve messed around with so many different lines but can’t work out which lines are the troublemakers!
(Ik seems like a weird scene to be the start of a chapter lol I am waiting till I can commission an artscene before scripting the first couple scenes so this is like middle of the chapter)
Scene Context (so yall know what im tryna do)
Tempest is a girl who bounced around in care homes due to her “unusual abilities” - said abilities being control over wind and frost, on her 19th birthday tempest decided to celebrate by staying at the cabin her parents left to her on the mountains… late at night tempest heard strange sounds which she followed, led her to the middle of the frozen over lake where she saw a girl pounding under the ice (artscene im waiting on <) so she tries to use her abilities to thaw the ice and free the girl but SPOILER the girls a hungry siren of the lake who drags tempest under the lake which freezes over with some kinda magical ice she cant thaw out, trapped with the sirens tempest fights em by summoning a whirlwind (which becomes a whirlpool with them being underwater) and takes the sirens out, only to notice the whirlpool reveals something at the bottom of the lake is glowing… suddenly exhausted cause yknow she underwater with no air… her whirlpool drags her under towards the glowy… WHERE (THE CURRENT SCENE) she is then jet launched out of a magical fountain geiser reallyyyy high into the air and GAIA a goddess-in-training who specialises in nature sees the whole ordeal and basically saves tempests life by using her powers and shooting vines out of her hands to grab tempest before she goes splatt. (Glowwy glowwy is essentially a portkey to a university/college for the gods)
I gave that a try but it didn’t fix the issue but i do appreciate the suggestion and the help!
(ignore the red x next to the overlay create haha its cause its still awaiting approval)
Also sorry for the late reply! I read your message, realised it was midnight and went to bed cause i had work at like 6am and only just got around to trying out your suggestion!!!
Noo sadly the only error im getting is just it reminding me that i cant publish until the ropevine overlay gets approved. I have a feelin its somewhere between 60-80 lines that the issue is occuring.
Some animations place the midpoint of your character elsewhere. By example, all swimming animations have your character on the bottom- basically, the character’s head is where their feet would be.
My guess is that when the drowning animation occurs, your character doesn’t disappear, but they’re just down below, off-screen. I suggest you put a pause where your character is and use spot direction to drag them back on-screen. You’ll eventually have to spot-direct them again (to the original spot) when the drowning animation stops,
Haha no worries I don’t see it as rude lol, I do that when Im testing something out I will set the pause for a long time cause I will write the scene and then go back and do the screen placements so that I dont have to keep stopping when im on a roll to place characters. (I forgot to turn it back to pause for a beat before snipping tooling the script)
