Characters popping into scenes looks weird

#1

So, I’m just gonna get straight into it. I’ve seen stories with characters popping into the scene right after a fade, such as in The Stripper. I’m just bein’ honest, this looks awkward as Acacia from Bite.

#2

My story does that not sure how to fix it lol

#3

It depends where you put the fade and how you place characters, & helps with this problem

#4

yea i see that sh*t all the
time

#5

&CHARACTER stands [spot]
@transition fade in black in 2

I hope this is what you’re talking about, or else I look really dumb :joy:

#6

Hmmm… I’ll suggest doing this. I haven’t tested it yet, but I think this works…

@CHARACTER stands screen center AND CHARACTER is talk_angry_defensive AND CHARACTER2 stands screen right AND CHARACTER2 is idle_sad
&transition fade in black in 1.5

As I said, no clue if this works…

lol

#8

Also wtf it’s been less than 5 minutes and there is 7 replies

#9

& doesn’t work with transitions, so you’d have to do it with the character spotting

#10

Ahhh ok I see, thanks XD

Glad to help!

WARNING: I’m not smart
I wonder if it’s because people put in the characters after the transition like I did for a while? So, with @'s in this

@CHARACTER stands POSITION AND CHARACTER is ANIMATION
@transition TRANSITION in/out COLOR in TIME

I’d assume the characters would be placed first and the transition would happen afterwords… but then the transition would be delayed and it would look off.

In

@transition TRANSITION in/out COLOR in TIME
@CHARACTER stands POSITION AND CHARACTER is ANIMATION

the transition would complete before the characters pop into the scene, causing the characters to pop in.
