i thought i had done everything correctly but i’m still getting a rather unhelpful error message, and i’m getting a little frustrated trying to figure out what’s wrong
can anyone help? this is the code:
&overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 01 opacity 1 in 0 then pause for 1.35 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 01 opacity 0 in 0 then pause for 0.45 loop INF times
&pause for 0.45 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 02 opacity 1 in 0 then pause for 0.9 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 02 opacity 0 in 0 then pause for 0.45 loop INF times
&pause for 0.9 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 03 opacity 1 in 0 then pause for 0.45 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 03 opacity 0 in 0 then pause for 0.45 loop INF times
i’m trying to replicate the reappearing and disappearing ellipsis you get on loading screens.
I’ve never seen the loop command written like that, does it usually work?
yeah, i’ve used it elsewhere in my script with no issues

oh, I didn’t know that. thank you!
anyway, the problem is that you’re putting pauses in the looping command, but you can only have overlay commands
I’d change it to something like this
&overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 01 opacity 1 in 0 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 01 opacity 1 in 1.35 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 01 opacity 0 in 0 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 01 opacity 0 in 0.45 loop INF times
&overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 02 opacity 0 in 0.45 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 02 opacity 1 in 0 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 02 opacity 1 in 0.9 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 02 opacity 0 in 0 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 02 opacity 0 in 0.45 loop INF times
&overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 03 opacity 0 in 0.9 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 03 opacity 1 in 0 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 03 opacity 1 in 0.45 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 03 opacity 0 in 0 then overlay UA INTRO LOADING DOT 03 opacity 0 in 0.45 loop INF times
Idk if it actually works, so you have to try it out

no problem!! omg that’s actually a really clever way around it, i’ll stick it into my script and see if it works

so it turns out that it starts out fine, but then the overlays for some reason start to go out of sync with each other and it turns into a mess, so i probably just won’t bother with it. i’m ok not having it, i just thought it would be a cool little detail to add, but if i can’t get it to work properly it doesn’t matter that much. thank you for your help anyway!

that’s just a timing problem! I’m actually going to sleep now, but if you’d like I can try to look at it and see if I can make it work?

don’t feel like you have to, only do it if you want to! but it would be nice

you cant add pauses in the script that way when you said “then pause for 1.35”
