I have this acer laptop that I got around 2 years ago now, and I’d like to start coding on it! Unfortunately the laptop runs so slow and doesn’t even open properly
To be honest, if you’ve factory rebooted it, I don’t think there’s much else you can do. It’s the best way to refresh your system as a whole. You could always upgrade your device with RAM, or replace the Hard Drive with a Solid State Drive (the average SSD is like twice as fast as the average HD).
Two years of a lifetime is not even that bad, I just think that laptop wasn’t too good to begin with if it’s already running very slow. I think your best bet is to just get a new device, but you can actually get a relatively cheap laptop if you’d only want to use it for things like coding and just browsing online.
Omg I have the same laptop For me, it is not that slow I have had it for about 3 years now I used to have a Chromebook.
I have Windows 11 and I have the newest update so far. My only downfall is that it crashes when I listen to Spotify while I code or it overheats and crashes.
Sometimes browsers can slow the PC down. I’d try switching to see if any make a difference. You could also try clearing any unnecessary data on your PC and in your browser.
I also recommend running the Writer’s Portal with the task manager open to see if what all is running. If something isn’t needed at that moment, just end the task.
I’m not the most tech-savvy person, but I do hope you’ll find a proper solution! : )
I have the same laptop, I’ve been using it for seven years and it has had similar problems. Sometimes it ran slow due to the battery, maybe if you got it replaced and had a shop do a full reset?
You can try any of the solutions:
Check for Resource Hogs: While the image isn’t visible, sluggishness can be caused by background programs. Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and close any unnecessary programs consuming CPU or memory.
Upgrade RAM (if possible): Low RAM (especially below 8GB) impacts performance. If your Acer allows RAM upgrades, consider adding more for a smoother coding experience.
