Hey all!

Are you tired of having backgrounds provided by Episode be completely unusable from lack of overlays? Well, look no further! I have gotten aggravated enough to create a folder in my drive that will have overlays from Episode Backgrounds.

No credit necessary since they aren’t mine. I haven’t gotten far in my list but if you want a specific background, or part that I haven’t included, please leave a comment below.

I will be updating this folder regularly and have already chosen several backgrounds to extract png overlay for. Each folder is in this drive will be labeled with the background name so that it’s easy to navigate and find what you need.

No problem, y’all. I just get so frustrated that Episode has nice looking backgrounds but no overlays…

& yes, it took a few hours work today. I am trying to work through the exterior ones and the more frequently used background (bedrooms/bathrooms/etc) first then go from there.

My goal is two weeks but we will see how it goes. :slight_smile:

@ColeCatalyst can you do cut from mirror for overlay like reflection from mirror for character

The mirror overlays that I’ve done so far, I went ahead and changed the mirror opacity so that people can put their characters “behind” the mirrors for reflections-- It will make it easier than having to code the wall part, then the mirror – it’s an all in one overlay. :slight_smile:

Edit: I changed the INT. BATHROOM - DAY file I thought I re-layered and forgot to bring the mirror back into view before exporting it :woman_facepalming: NOW it is an all in one!

Exactly. It had bugged me for awhile that they’ve given us SO many backgrounds and yet most can’t really be used because of tables, or chair backs or not having water overlays for pools, etc. So, I’m now on a mission to correct this issue since they haven’t/won’t. lol

Everyone: The mirror parts of any overlay I make will have a lower opacity to make it easier to use in your stories (because who doesn’t want less overlay spotting, amiright? lol)

That’s the goal :smiley: I’ve got a folder of episode backgrounds both exterior and interior that I’m going to do and then go back and look again to see if I missed any that could use some. :slight_smile: The next one that I’m working on now is the dining room day/night that has the plates and stuff but the chair placement makes it completely useless. :joy:

Instead of coding :
INT. BATHROOM BACKGROUND - DAY with BATHROOM WALL with BATHROOM MIRROR

with my overlays you can just do :
INT. BATHROOMBACKGROUND - DAY with BATHROOMWALL
because the mirror part is already see-through.

–that way there is less overlay spot directing for scenes where you want a reflection in the mirror. (with the wall part already attached you can stand them behind the “wall” and spot direct the character and their lower body won’t be visible. ) Does that explain it better?
