Correct Christian Representation

I’m seeing authors speak out about the religion they belong to not being represented and portrayed in Episode stories. But, I haven’t really seen anybody talk about Christianity being represented. I’m not saying that other religions shouldn’t be represented and that Christianity is the most important, but I feel like this religion isn’t really talked about. I am a Christian myself. I wish there were more stories that portrayed Christians the right away instead of based on stereotypes :disappointed: Christian people aren’t mean people, however, some can be a bit harsh and challenging to get along with (depending on what denomination they are). I just feel like Episode should create a section or a new app for Christian-based stories. Authors are who Christian and believers are able to express their religion in their story the right away; I’m pretty sure they’ll agree with me on this.

I think the reason why christianity isn’t always being talked about is one it’s not that we christians get a lot of hate for being christians and christianity isn’t the most important every religion are the most important. I am christian also. You’re right some Christians aren’t harsh but a lot are especially saying other religion isn’t right or saying that the lgbtq is a sin and has a good christian we are not suppose to judge people based on who they are. And I agree people should be able to express their religion but they dont have too if they don’t want too. (No hate)

I’m just gonna say this, Christians live by the bible and are supposed to be Christ-like. So a character who is hateful and prejudiced towards people is not being a true Christian. So when people make Christian characters who are evil and homophobic. They arent making REAL Christians.

There are many qualities of Christian people. They encourage, give words of wisdom and build up people in this world. That’s what matters, and that should be represented more.

If this is because of the recent traction behind featuring Jewish authors (because I feel like it is) Jewish is an ethnicity and a culture. Not just a religion. You can have atheist jewish people and muslim jewish people. If this is about the Arab shelf, again that’s an ethnicity. There’s no religion within this and assuming the lifting up of minorities is somehow at the expense of you being “seen” is silencing speech.

Secondly, I find it bold you’re asking for an entire new section/app when Christianity is probably the most catered to religion in the Western world. If Episode suddenly decided to feature religious writing it’d be a weekly shelf like everything else.

Thirdly, I also think this is because of the Queer contest accurately showing how Christians can be incredibly homophobic and close-minded. Not all Christians are like this of course but it’s incredibly frequent and victims of this should be allowed to write about their trauma.

I just would like to see more Christian representation.

Surely this doesn’t need a separate section or entirely new app to happen?

If you want more Christianity-based stories with what you feel is proper representation, good steps would be to: write them, find and share resources with what you feel is helpful writing advice on the subject, and actively seek out and support these kinds of stories.

I’m also a Christian as well.

I definitely agree with that and people shouldn’t stereotypes based on religion.

Yeah but “Good” Christians according to some people are being homophobic and racist. As Christians we should be supportive and not being judged the only reason why christians are portrayed as bad people are a lot of christians think Christianity is the only religion that matters and try and force other religion to convert to christianity and a lot of christians are homophobic and evil thats why we christians are seen and always will be seen has bad people. Unless a lot of the evil and racist and homophobic ones change.

Yeah, I think it’s really important to understand and accept the heavy trauma Christianity in particular has caused people with different beliefs from the group. I’m not saying this should be the only portrayal of religious characters, but just because something is a negative portrayal doesn’t mean it lacks authenticity.

I have a lot of experience with Christian people and honestly any community in this world has both the kind and the cruel. While there are kind and well-intended Christians, there are most certainly mean Christians.

Yes some of my family members dont believe or accept Lgbtq things but they still wont judge people cause of it cause they believe even if it is a sin or not God is who will judge not us humans that is a good representation of a good christian even if they dont accept it they still talk to the person like they do with every human but wont be rude or force them to change.

exactly a lot of christians would say something like yelling you’ll go to hell and thats another thing i dont like about my religion or people in my religion because they always think their opinion is right just because they are christians. So @Briana_M thats probably one of the reasons why people dont like christians and its some christians that cause people to portray all christians as bad people. And I am not surprised and I am a christian but not ones like that. I support the Lgbtq community because I believe love is love.

It’s a shame how Christians are represented the correct way. Yes, many people have turned their backs on Christianity because they feel like their being targeted because of their way of life. That’s not the representation that I’d like to see in stories. As I said before, Christians have a lot of qualities, and many of them are true believers and Christians. Christians shouldn’t hate on anybody because that’s not how they are supposed to act. They are supposed to be loving, encouraging and helpful to people who are in need in this world today.

Yeah, there are some they do support LGBT and don’t judge and accept another’s for who they are and not on their religious.
And don’t try to force them into being religious or anything like they can still be friends and do their own thing without judging each other.

That needs to be seen more in stories because I feel like that’s the correct way to portray them. Forget about writing about a Christian who is very hateful, even though there are some who feel like they are higher than everybody else. That’s just my opinion.

So a story of someone being a Christian and he or she believes in God but doesn’t judge others based on their life choices or who they date or what they do such as lust or anything.
They just accept them for who they are.
And don’t try to change them but still respect them rather just have mutual feelings.

And they talk about God but not trying to change another people’s perspective to be them like. To be like a Christian like them.

Yeah there is some but there’s some who don’t think and love people for who they are and don’t think higher then the next person.
