Hi everyone! I have a bit of a problem. I ordered a cover from a talented artist a few weeks ago ( more specifically, 26 days ago) , and I specifically asked for it by the end of the month. That deadline has came and gone, obviously it’s the 3rd, and I haven’t heard from her. What should I do? I’ve checked her profile and it says that she hasn’t been active since the 13th, so I don’t know if she is just working on it or…
Here is the order:
It’s not drawn or commissioned but I don’t want to cancel the order, her not see it and be accused of thread hopping. I kind of need it soon and I have already pushed back my publish date because I don’t have a cover. Any suggestions?
I’m not going to say the artist’s name, but will attach a picture of the 2 times I’ve tried to contact her.
Thank you!
Hey @scarlettm, most people have a lot of things going on at the moment. Have you spoken to this artist privately? More specifically, messaged them on their social medias which is available to the public (meaning not their personal account)?
I recommend kindly asking her how it’s going. Art does take time, and thread hoping is v disrespectful. Also, she might b almost done n if u cancel then her time + effort will have been wasted
If you have, and they chose to ignore, cancel the order! Someone did this to me, although I never messaged them about the progress, and they messaged me saying ‘they lost their ipad’, it’s annoying but sometimes it’s best to cancel and find someone else
I understand how difficult it is to find someone so I can do it for u? I usually don’t take requests but I feel u girl, so pls pm me if ur interested (:
As some sort of artist myself, I can tell that even though thread hopping isn’t cool, ghosting someone you have accepted a request from for this long is probably even worse. More so if the deadline was set. Not saying that it’s the case here, since we can’t know that. Maybe something unfortunate happened to them. But eitherway, I do believe if they were doing it or were almost done - they’d reply to your messages. And since you’ve already waited past the agreed deadline - I don’t see anything wrong if you canceled your order and ordered from someone else.
Considering she missed the deadline and hasn’t gotten in contact with you when you’ve been reaching out, I don’t think she’s going to be making your cover. You aren’t thread-hopping because whatever agreement you have has been broken by the other side. You should find someone else
I completely agree with most here.
Giving that there was a dead line date set, the artist could have reached out to you if there was anything going on in her life that was stopping her from staying committed to this project. This is just unprofessional on the artist’s part. Giving that there was an arrangement made that the cover piece was to be finished by the end of January, and had failed to be met. I don’t see there being any reason the artist has a right to be upset over. Also considering that you have reached out to her on more then one occasion, she can not go back and say that you were thread hopping.
