Hey guys, i have been working on my story for a fair bit of time already and just tried to make a cover for it. Turns out my artistic capabilities eqal those of bread :innocent:
What do you guys think ? Could use some constructive opinions.

The layering of the characters isn’t too good, for example on the right side, it looks a little weird.
The blank space between the characters on the left and the black figure is a little big. I would also recommend using another background

thanks, i really need to fix up the layering :+1:

so advice better layring, the girl with a green jackes is soaring to high over the guy with glasses, and she is at a higher layer than the girl who forgot her shirt.

the witch and dear dude are just idle, maybe give them an animation too.

also I am asuming purple hair girl(aka girl who forgot a shirt) is the MC, if she is she should be the main focus, right now the background and shadow is the main focus of the picture.

I recomand that you look at some movie posters, they are good exampels

els if you dont like your own cover you could always go to an art shop. of course only if you want to

Personally, I don’t think u can even use that cover whether u wanted to or not. I say this because there is a gun being held & used on your cover. Guns are not allowed on covers. The use of them are against cover guidelines (:

whooops, not a big deal
will just remove it :grinning:

yes, I forgot about guns been against the guidelines, that you cant have them on the cover, which is funny because I think I edited them out of ten covers(as a favor for others) by now.

I did some updates to the original foto
now what i am actually trying to depict is:
The girls in colours are de facto the protagonists, The front one is the main main character though.
The shades on the left and right side are supposed to represent the rivaling factions. And the big evil wing-lady is well
the big evil wing lady i cant talk about.
The speech bubble and everything below is hidden.

:innocent:

It would be so much more appealing to readers if there wasn’t so much going on at once. Looking at that cover, all I can see is faceless people who I can’t tell what they’re actually doing, 2 girls that look to be fighting, some random silhouette of a female doing something that again is confusing for me and then overall there’s this girl looking terrified just holding a book?

Personally, I would not click this story to read the description/start the story since there’s just too much going on. It’ll be even more confusing for readers since the cover will show up so much smaller on the app that the back characters will hardly be seen (:

As a summary, don’t make the cover so busy. It’s off-putting to readers when they can’t guess a base genre of the story. (I.e = A romance story could have two characters kissing/in a romantic pose. That way the genre is guessable).

Taking a guess, I’d assume your story is either drama, fantasy, action or mystery. But with that said, that implies that there’s no simple guess. Covers should be intriguing and understanding. Your cover looks like you’ve screenshotted a scene of your story and used that as your cover (:

yeah i see your point. I will cut some stuff. And yes it is a screenshot that will be turned into a proper background. I do lack the artistic capabilities to draw stuff
unless you expect some stick people
Besides, the story will obviously come with an explanation about whats going on

If you’d like, PM me and I’ll give you some tips about making your edited cover
 if you’d like

i would love to, but apparently you do not accept personal messages atm .

Oops
 let me change that :joy:

Fixed it

I love it

I had a gun on mine oops

They’re not always noticed and it also depends on who reviews your cover since some don’t care and will still accept the cover whereas others don’t allow them. Overall, they are against the guidelines but it’s better to be safe by not including them than test the chance (:

My hockey player overlay was “inappropriate” apparently the most clothes you could put on a character and it was rejected :woman_facepalming:

I did a new one, does actually look better than my first attempt. I suppose i should asking someone to make me a cover though. I have been trying to work with Gimp but i dont even get how you draw a line there.
