[Creator's Contest] Missed Connections

How do you write this and NOT make the MC a massive stalker?

I’m thinking too… originally I thought it’d be easy but I forgot to read the part where it said that:

Nevermind… :smirk:

I was going to write a missing connection one but I think I need to focus more on my other one I don’t write yet and this theme is just too off, I think I won’t enter after all- it’s really hard to think of one. I did really want to enter again but somehow Christmas and New year in between time… there’s way too little especially vacation. Anyhow, I’ll tell you if I think of one…

Would Love interest saving MC work? They aren’t connecting but he’s saving her soooo…

Hopefully, for my story the otherwise is evident.

Quick question, does anyone know how much the writer portal can handle. I’m honestly anxious on the amount of directing and branching to do.

@EliseC how much were you able to fit?

I’d actually like to know this also!

I think it’s different for art styles and Spotlight/Cinematic. I assume INK Spotlight would have the most lines where Limelight Cinematic would have the least. But Elise wrote both INK/LL and Cinematic/Spotlight so she can confirm it. :slightly_smiling_face:

Well… I’m almost at 9k lines… :upside_down_face:

I think you’ll be fine, I remember it was around 11k or something. Try using “THEN” more to reduce lines, obviously don’t use space too much. You may hit the line soon.

Would it help if I split the two seperate gender paths mid story? (right before that character comes into the story) Or do I have to do that at the start? ;-;

What do you mean by gender paths? Choosing MC’s gender or Love interest’s?

The love interests gender

Question, is there anyone I can run my idea by. I’m not sure if it fits “missed connections”

You can ask the gender of love interest right after customizing MC or you could make something like this.

BESTFRIEND
You still didn’t forget your ex, did you?

choice
“She was a nice girl. (Female Love Interest)”{
gain female_loveinterest
}
“He was a nice guy. (Male Love Interest)”{
gain male_loveinterest
}

Whenever you have to mention the love interest you can just use gains. You don’t need to write it separately.

BESTFRIEND
Who are you texting?
if (female_loveinterest){
MC
My girlfriend.
} elif (male_loveinterest){
MC
My boyfriend.
}

So the LI doesn’t come in until the second half of the chapter, when they meet. I plan on setting the gender choice at the start, but can I have the story split into two (If maleLI/femaleLI goto maleLI/femaleLI story) right at the scene where they meet?
(It would just save around 5-6k lines being repeated)
Sorry I’m still a little confused

Yes you can split the story. Gains will help you do so. You will ask the question right after customizing right? Just make it like this.

NARRATOR
I want my love interest to be…
choice
“Female”{
gain female_loveinterest
}
“Male”{
gain male_loveinterest
}

You don’t have to write the story in the brackets, I’m assuming that’s what you’re talking about? You can just mention the gains with if/elif when it’s time for them to meet.
