Crossover Guidelines

I think younger people tend to lie about their age in gmails and stuff. I have seen 11 and 9 year olds using this app. I have myself at that age. :woman_shrugging:t4:

What if you used characters from your own personal story?

I’m pretty sure you’re allowed to do so if it’s your own property.

Yeah, we can.

That’s what I was thinking I guess that’s okay because it your story

Of course. But there’s no way of Episode proving that, since if you’re using gmail or facebook, you’re stating you’re 13+.

I’ve seen some 18+ sites require ID, but that wouldn’t work in this case, since under 18s generally don’t have a form of ID.

They don’t.

Though I imagine they’re probably reporting underage users who state their age in their bios or in the fanmail they send.

You still can’t “prove” it, but I doubt someone who’s old enough to use the app is going to say “Hi I’m 10 years old.”

Ok, this is stupid. But how can you know that it is an author/character from a story? Ok, even I would recognise Sandra G. or Bronte, but what if it is an underrated author/character? How do you track that down? Are you an undercover spies or someting?

Actually, my mother is a lawyer and as long as you get written (or typed) permission from another company (in this case writer,) it is in fact allowed to be used.

Stop infringing on our rights

Sadly, Episode has stated it only goes to just them in their case, not the community.

Couldn’t we sue Episode then?..

No. Their rules don’t have to conform to law, unfortunately (as long as they aren’t BREAKING laws). It is also legal to depict copyrighted material for the sake of parody, yet Episode doesn’t allow that.

With a limited amount of features, a lot of characters will end up looking alike. So they’re probably relying on other factors.

If the author of the story makes a point to say “It’s Sandra G!” or “This is Tyler Grey from Rockstar Next Door,” or directly promotes the story as a crossover.

We’re tired of you making guidelines only impacted the good and great stories. I see why my favorite authors are feeling so defeated. I’ve been on Episode for years and it’s funny how this didn’t apply to the pioneers. This is BS and I hope these great writers “crossover” to other platforms if you continue this gag order.

That’s unfortunate…

Well, Episode isn’t getting any of my valuable time until I see positive changes (or until I get bored).
Know what WILL get my time?

Yes. I really am seeing the popular authors not being affected much from this. Like another person stated—
