Crossover Guidelines

We very much could for infringing on our rights

Yep! And there is a petition on Instagram to NOT USE EPISODE AT ALL until they fix these issues

Well, if I named the character SANDRA G. they would know. However, unless they search for every character, then they may not.

In my opinion, if you use your friend’s character with a name a personality you’ve given them, then it becomes your character.

A character is so much more than just appearance There’s many characters which look the same. The way you portray them, makes them your own.

When we signed up for the website, we agreed to their TOS.

So it’s unlikely a lawsuit would be successful, as they have a record of us agreeing to its terms.

You can’t. For instance, you can’t sue them for moderating off-topic comments on forums for being in violation of free speech because they have their own guidelines for the forums. Even though it would be legal for me to come on here and tell you all about how great my cat is, I can’t sue episode for deleting that comment for violating their terms.

Technically though, you CAN sue them for making guidelines that infringe on our rights. And it’s easy to win over the court with a case like that

You can sue them, but the success of a lawsuit like this is debatable.

Yeah, you CAN sue over a lot of things. You just may be wasting your time… and money.

Are you an Episode authority? Becaouse you look like you know too much

Nope.

I’ve just eventually come to understand how stuff like this works out.

Because

Definitely.

People sue for stuff all the time. :woman_shrugging:t4: and they end up spending a lot of money on legal services that may or may not play out in their favor.

Eh, it was probably just a typo. No need for that.

Okay. I was just making sure that I am not making fun (planning on making a “nice comment”) of episode in front of someone who works for them.

They aren’t reading anything here on forums or in instagram comments beacuse if they were, they would do something . I am always reading comments and every writer is roasting them. (Like about tats, moles and scars being a part of clothing)

It was funny how they posted an episode horoscope and writers were furious about episode being interested in shit like horoscopes but not interested in episode writers’ needs or demands.

I guess I just don’t see the point of correcting someone else’s spelling or grammar during a discussion. :woman_shrugging:t4:

It just seems petty and adds nothing to the conversation. Especially since we could all still figure out what she meant.

Okay.

Since the rules state we can’t use copyrighted material without permission, I think it would be fair to provide a way to prove the author gave permission. This could be accomplished though a form or just a simple email sent by the approving author. This way there would be documentation showing it was approved. People do crossovers with other authors they are friends with, so this wouldn’t be a difficult process to adhere to.

Agreed.

Exactly. They claim there is no way to track it, but with a little bit of effort, you can. They need to think outside the box.
