When allowing players to customize the characters, does the character automatically change for them to in the next chapter or do I need to use a type of coding so the character they customize comes out the way they customized it?
As long as you don’t use a becomes command anywhere, the character will stay customized to their liking

what would be a become command?
It’s not really a necessary command for simple directing. It’s more for if you want to create a duplicate of a character easily (assuming they’re the same body type (i.e. generic female, generic male, plus female) and same gender (male/female)). Otherwise nothing to really think about

That’s the changes command. “Becomes” is exclusively used for characters changing appearances exactly from their previous into exact copies of another.
i.e.
@CHAR becomes CHAR2
