Sorry to butt in, but it’s because your keyboard is set to French.
Those are French quotes, so just change your phone’s keyboard back to English and it’ll be normal again.

For customized characters, you cannot use a code to go back to what the reader chose because the if/elif/else will not work with customization. You have to create a duplicate character and use that character to change the hair and makeup. Then when you want to go back to the hairstyle and lipstick the reader originally chose, you will switch back to the main character.

You can name the duplicate character whatever you want.
Use the above code right after the customization template. That code makes the duplicate look exactly like the main character.
