Digital Art Tips Wanted

Hey everyone, I’m not really good at drawing. I have been practicing with outlines characters using animations from the writing studio. I currently want to try working on a art scene for my DL entry. I’m looking for tips on how to get this outfit too (arms see through like the image below)

Thank you

Using layers might be a way to do it. I haven’t done similar outfits yet myself, but I might suggest putting the second shirt shirt on a separate layer from the rest of the clothing in your digital art program of choice and lowering the opacity of that layer. That might be an easy way to do it. I’m not sure if it’s the most effective way, though. Good luck.

Thank you, I’m slowing just taking my pace into drawing as haven’t done any for years which I used to just do cartoons on paper.

You’re welcome. Yeah, take your time getting back into it. That’s where I started and still am, too. Comics and cartoons are fun.

Yeah, I understand getting back into drawing and art after long breaks.

Well I’m not the best artist myself but I would say:

  • Like the other comments, take your time and use layers Omds layers can save you from have to rub out everything. I like to work on separate elements especially the small details then I combine them together so I can always remove or change one element at a time

  • Have confidence in yourself! not everyone needs a fancy apple pen to create amazing art, when you make confident, quick strokes it looks better

  • don’t be afraid of contrast! Study the skin tone well and you will notice the outlines are a few shades darker than the skin tone. Shading well and creating contrast gives depth.

  • Start with a base colour for your skin then use that colour and either go lighter or darker for your shading

  • for see through objects: yet again don’t be afraid of contrast. Using off-white lines for outlines then use the same colour but reducing opacity to go over and colour on top of whatever you want to be shiwn (eg the see-through sleeve).
