In the picture above, it some part of the errored choice and what the error actually is. I don’t really understand where the the parentheses is and where exactly it needs to go.
I know I said that I am not a very good director but I was wondering if you could type what I need to write to correct the choice because I don’t really understand.
Sorry, if I am being so demanding but I really would like some help.
So it is saying that you have an extra closing bracket (}) for your first choice. Basically you have 8-{ but 9-}. First try removing the last bracket of your first choice.
I think the issue is around here.
if (OUTFIT1 is “Wear a bikini.”) {
goto JEALOUS_COFFEE_BECCA
}
KAITLYN (talk_handsonhips_neutral)
Well, that was interesting…
Because of the goto, nothing is going to the next line.
Heyyyy! I’m here to ask: about how long should the first few episodes of a story be? My first episode is 1800+ lines (with the templates+extensive branching) but it only takes like 5 mins to read and I feel like it’s too short. Can someone help me with this?
It’s hard to give a line count due to how people all code and space differently. Many say around 1000 lines, not including templates. As a reader, I like for stories to take me 10 to 20 minutes to read. Less then 10 minutes and it feels like a wasted pass. Anything more than 20 minutes tends to lose my interest as it’s just way to long. I think anywhere in the 12-15 minute range is the best.
I know it’s kind of hard to lengthen chapters without adding garbage and fluff as that’s something I’m working on now for my own stories.
I’m referring to the Google Drives of different people and authors on Episode. A few have them linked here (like me) and others have them on their Instagram account. Basically half the people I follow on Instagram make templates, backgrounds, and overlays that people can use in their own stories as long as they give them credit (since they take a long time to make).
Hi, @Purple_Ghost. I need help again, sorry.
In my story, the script below is working but not to my pleasure:
INT. DIM DORM - NIGHT with ABBIE PAINTING @cut to zone 3
&INVISIBLE spot 1.717 151 -166 in zone 3
&overlay ABBIE PAINTING shifts to 65 230
&overlay ABBIE PAINTING scales to 1.064 1.064
&INVISIBLE faces right
&INVISIBLE is sleep_lay_uncomfortable_loop
I wanted the overlay (ABBIE PAINTING) to kind of shift to zone 3 and scale to zone 3 and want the character (INVISIBLE) to come into zone 3 all at the same time. But it is not doing it. I was hoping you could help me make it all go together in time. Thank you.
Hi @Purple_Ghost I want to spot my overlay but I don’t know how to see what it is exactly because before to spot the overlay, was like spotting a charcter with the SCALE X Y but now it says the shift and scale thing. Could you help me with it please?
If you are using web previewer, the shift and scale show separately. Just take the numbers it gives and put them in the normal overlay set-up: BACKGROUND with OVERLAY to SCALE X Y in zone # at layer #
omg alex i love all of your stories!!! i’ve been reading them for almost 2 years!!
ahhhh thank you so much for this.
i can’t wait for more stories to come <3
hey!
i’ve been wondering, how do you get that text box to drop down from the top?
many writers use it for background credits and i want to use it too.
please help? thanks
Try this. It should work assuming there is nothing wrong else where.
INT. DIM DORM - NIGHT with ABBIE PAINTING
&cut to zone 3
&INVISIBLE spot 1.717 151 -166 in zone 3 and INVISIBLE faces right and INVISIBLE is sleep_lay_uncomfortable_loop
&overlay ABBIE PAINTING shifts to 65 230 in zone 3 @overlay ABBIE PAINTING scales to 1.064 1.064
The overlay is in the right spot but INVISIBLE is not in the right position. This happened alot to my characters and overlays in previous stories (I spot them somewhere but when I preview, the SCALE is wrong but the X and Y is in the right place). I was wondering if you could help me. Thanks.
The 1.717 you have right now will make INVISIBLE larger than normal (1.280). Is that the effect you want?
The Y axis of -166 will have the character partly if not fully below the scene. Is this correct?
