Directing Help and Assistance From a Purple Ghost For All Your Episode Needs

@Purple_Ghost I want INVISIBLE to be larger than normal; that it right. But I’m not quite sure what you mean by the y-axis of -166 making the character partly or fully of the screen. But I dont want her off the screen I want her like this:

Thank you.

@queenesther1,

I don’t use spotlight, so I don’t know of any glitches exist. As long as you are putting the same numbers as it gives you, it should work. You can see if moving the character code to the end helps. You can also check and see if mobile previewer plays it right.

INT. DIM DORM - NIGHT with ABBIE PAINTING
&cut to zone 3
&overlay ABBIE PAINTING shifts to 65 230 in zone 3
&overlay ABBIE PAINTING scales to 1.064 1.064
@INVISIBLE spot 1.717 151 -166 in zone 3 and INVISIBLE faces right and INVISIBLE is sleep_lay_uncomfortable_loop

@Purple_Ghost
It also happens on cinematic but it only happens on my account. My sister has episode as well and she does not experience this.

@queenesther1,

I honestly don’t know why it does that. That’s the correct code and how to format character size.

Okay so I have a question. I’ve looked through this thread and I don’t know if you’ve covered it but I’m trying to get the camera to follow my character into zone 4 which I know is @follow CHARACTER to screen left in zone 4. BUT i’m trying to figure how to make the camera follow the character but the character is smaller on the screen if that makes sense?
I’m using the campus entrance day scene and I want the character to be walking on the pathway with the camera following her but I don’t know how to do that :frowning: I’ve been struggling for the past hour.

@kimmpwns,

So it sounds like you have your character spot directed, so you can’t use the normal follow command. You can however pan at the same rate the character is walking:

&CHARACTER walks to spot 1.340 56 180 in zone 3 in 5
@pan to zone 3 in 5

thank you :slight_smile:

@Purple_Ghost Hello, I’ve forgotted how to do the text effects correctly could you help me? Also I’d like to split the screen for phone calls but I don’t know how.

@MarinaS,

The easiest way to do text effects is to use the quick many on the side of the script (where it says text effects). When you want the effect to end, place the reset after the word or letter. Text effects reset after each line of dialogue.

For the phone call, there is one premise split screen. If you want a different one you have two options. One is to make (or find) a split screen background out of two backgrounds. The second option is to convert a background into an overlay that you can then layer over another background.

Thank you, but will I have to make a custom overlay?

I don’t know how to make one of my characters sit behind a table rather than sitting in front of it. Please help.

@MarinaS,

Basically you just need to save the background of choice and convert it to a png. I use Pixlr to save and resize.

@Hailey2002,

First, you’ll need to make sure the table is an overlay, if it’s not then there is no way to movie the character behind it. If it is a background with the table built in by Episode, the person will automatically stand behind it.

Now if you are adding the table overlay you will need the table to be in a further coward layer than the characters. The layers range from 2 being the furthest forward to -2 being the furthest back.
Here is an example:
INT. BACKGROUND - DAY with TABLE to 1.000 75 100 in zone 3 at layer 2
@CHARACTER spot S x y in zone 3 at layer 1
OR
@CHARACTER moves to layer 1

Hi! I’m not sure how to make 2 (or more) characters move at once while one is speaking.

@milkandcookies,
You’ll need to use the & symbol so the actions are done simultaneously. To have the character talk while walking you’ll need to use the walk_talk_happy command.

Example:
INT. BACKGROUND- DAY
&CHARACTER walks to screen right
&CHARACTER2 walks to upscreen right
CHARACTER2 (walk_talk_happy)
Today is a nice day.

Thank you for answering so fast!

I’m sorry if you’ve already explained this (and that I will probably keep bugging you with questions) but how do I do text effects? Like could I make the text shake for if somebody got a fright, or make it smaller as though somebody’s whispering?

@milkandcookies,

So I just use the quick menu on the side of the screen. You put your mouse wherever you want the animation to start and then select as many animations as you want. If you want to change animation or stop animation within a line, use the reset option where you want it to end. If the animation ends at the end of a line, a reset is not needed.

To make smaller text, you have to shrink the speech bubble. The speech bubble helper will give you the exact code to use in your script. To reset later speech bubbles use @speechbubble reset.

Hey,
Do any of you know if i would get copyrighted if i used social media like snapchat but changed the name to something like Napchat or something in my story?
I want to recreate some pop stars too, would i still get copyrighted if i used a slightly different version of their name in my story?

@Jelly_Pringlez,

I think you could probably get away with that, just don’t make the celebrities too overly obvious.
