I don’t know what genres you like (I’m just assuming from TPN and AOT), but here are some from my personal top 10 favorites:
FLCL (6 eps, it’s about growing up and relationships)
Samurai Champloo (by the same director of Cowboy Bebop, super character-driven,lots of action, great animation & directing)
Tatami Galaxy (11 eps, slice-of-life but it moves like CRAZY, about a college student regretting letting opportunities go away)
Serial Experiments Lain (13 episodes, super pshycological)
Monster (74 episodes, mystery anime, amazing side-characters and build up)

I like mystery, thriller, psychological, and some goofy animes. Animes that are great at being subtle are a lot of fun, because you can always revisit them and notice or learn something new. My favorite anime at the moment is Monster.
My best friend has watched A LOT OF animes so I am trying to watch one too because I want and she totally didn’t force me but anyway I’m watching Attack on titan and I have finished 2 seasons but I don’t want to continue
Shonen life! But my favs seinen are Berserk, Hellsing and Gangsta (two works so underrated btw 
).
My favorite anime of all time is definitely Naruto. Like pls I don’t know how to explain the love I have for this masterpiece

My favorite anime show is Naruto, my favorite anime movie is A Silent Voice. I also like Attack on titan (caught up on manga), Seven deadly sins (finished manga), Gangsta, Cannon Busters, HXH, One Punch Man, Dragon ball (the first one, not z, z is ok) , Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple, Bleach, Cats Eye And more :))
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is my all time favorite. Currently watching Death Note. It’s very interesting.

I think my favorite anime has to be Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. I won’t say so much about it, since it’s almost impossible to without spoiling stuff, so… If you try it, just watch until the end of ep 3 before deciding to continue.
The majority of these shows are dark and gritty in some fashion.
-Serial Experiments Lain is also a great psychological thriller.
-Rainbow Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin is a really good drama show.
-Juuni Kokuki is a pretty neat fantasy show.
-Slayers is also a neat fantasy franchise.
-Legend of the Legendary Heroes is a really cool mystery/fantasy series, even though it was never finished 
-Shigurui: Death Frenzy is there for those that likes grotesque and freaky scenes, with barely any filter <~<
-Texhnolyze is a neat dystopia future show. Very slow and artistic, like Lain.
-Apocalypse Zero. I have no idea how to even start describing that. It’s just 4 episodes of pure pandemonium.
Aaaand my favorite romance is… Chihayafuru! It’s so adorable.
I’ve not watched anime in about seven years, so there’s a risk these are a bit outdated and stuff, but yah.
I like both anime and light novels, I also read most of the one piece manga, so that’s that lol
