I think the only reason I would maybe consider it (in like an AU universe where my personality does a complete 180) is if I was offering like intense 1 on 1 help for a person with lots of help with advanced coding throughout the course of an entire story. But even that’s like a low 2% chance, I’m starving and really need money maybe. ![]()
Actually make that 0.2% of a chance.
For basic coding help: Absolutely not, never. It just makes me feel a bit sick to think of people doing this when there are so many minors on the app who really might not know. I’m also going to say it makes me feel even worse for the kids who aren’t supposed to be on episode but are who might be trying to write stories at the age of 11-12 who are possibly going to be even more easily manipulated. ![]()
Personally, no. And it kind of irritates me that it’s a thing (though I don’t know if it’s a big thing yet. Is it?) For one the app has so many younger users who could get easily “scammed” into something they could find the help for for free by spending 5-10 minutes searching on the forums.
I’m going to go on a small tangent and say I think this doesn’t really help anyone. Episode has such great potential for bringing out the independent creatives in all of us and offering help like this for money really just takes away people’s gumption to at least put the effort in to find what they need.
But most of all it’s just a bit ridiculous. I mean you take time to point out a few coding errors and you’re going to charge for it? Hell, we do that here for free. I see people all over helping each other out and no ones like: “Oh, no, that’s going to cost you $5,” because that’s just wrong.
Also no one is forcing anyone for coding help. If helping people out becomes too much of a struggle there’s always the option to stop/slow down. ![]()
